tion was set up by Reuben Le-

Rabbi Silver and Rabbi Free-
hof stated that they had never
seen or heard so impressive a
dedication pageant as they saw
at Temple Israel. They were
particularly impressed by the
procession of the Scrolls, to the
accompaniment of a composi-
tion. written especially for the
dedication occasion by the world
famous composer, Abraham W.
Binder. They were also impress
ed by the two choirs, one choir
behind the Bimah (pulpit) and
the other on the balcony oppo-
site. •
The Choir on the balcony is
a volunteer organization—
the Sisterhood • Choral Group.
The two choirs sang a particu-
larly moving rendition of the
Shehecheyonu (dedication pray-
er), composed by Karl W. Haas,
music director of Temple Israel,
and dedicated to Rabbi Leon
Fram in honor of the 25th an-
niversary of his rabbinate in
Detroit.
Many churches throughout the
city carried an announcement
of Temple Israel open house in
their church bulletins.

of this beautiful and imposing
