The dinner was a joint rededi-
cation of fraternal members to
the pledge "one nation indivis-
ible." An official event of De-
troit's 250th Birthday Celebra-
tion, it is sponsored by the De-
troit Round Table of Catholics,
Jews and Protestants.

M. Wise, presented a Brother-
hood Award jointly to Rev. Rob-
ert E. Burtt, pastor of May-
flower Congregational Church
and Rabbi Jacob E. Segal, spi-
ritual leader of! Cong. Adas
Shalom. Their houses of wor-
ship stand side by side on Cur-
tis Avenue, and the two reli-
gious leaders and their congre-
gations collaborate on many oc-
casions, both socially and in
community work.
With the appointment of Rab-
bi Isidor Schneebalg, described
by his congregants as a scholar
and an ambitious and energetic
leader, Cong. Beth Moses, Lin-
wood at Oakman Ct., looks for-
ward to expanding its syna-
gogue.
"We hope to establish a reli-
gious, cultural and educational
center for the Jewish population
concentrated in the neighbor-
hood of our • new synagogue,"
stated Emil Kahan, president of
Beth Moses.
Under -R a b b i Schneebalg's
guidance, the synagogue intends
to conduct a vigorous member-
ship campaign, reorganize the
men's club and expand the ac-
tivities of the ladies' auxiliary
and sisterhood.
Rabbi Schneebalg received - his
rabbinical ordination at Mirrer
Rabbinical College, and is a
graduate of Columbia Univer-
sity and the New School for
Social Research. Formerly as-
sociated with a congregation in
Harrisburg, Pa., Rabbi Schnee-
balg was Jewish chaplain at
Pennsylvania State Reformatory.
Mrs. Schneebalg, a graduate
of Brooklyn College and Herz-
liah Hebrew Teachers' Seminary,
will direct various youth group
projects, including a Sunday
School, children's hour and
other youth activities.
The congregation plans to
hold the dedication ceremonies
of its new synagogue shortly.
Details will be announced soon.

To Aid Passover Needy
In preparation for Passover,
the Mo'os Chitim committee is
making its annual collection for
funds to purchb.se matzos and
other traditional Passover ma-
terials for Jewish families who
cannot afford the foods neces-
sary tp observe the holidays.
All contributions for aid to
local families should be sent to

and individuals are urged to
send contributions immediately
to allow time for shopping and
distribution before the holidays,
which begin the evening of

Of Adult Study Institute
The closing session of the Adas
Shalom adult studies Institute on
"Psychiatry and Religion" will
be held at 9 p.m., Tuesday. Rabbi
Jacob E. Segal will be pricipal
speaker, and will coordinate the
10 lectures already presented in
the series. He will announce
plans for next years Institute.

by Rabbi Jacob E. Segal, spir-

and was written by Iry Tunick,
