WASHINGTON-(JTA) - The.
Senate Armed Services Commit-
tee, which unanimously cleared
Assistant Secretary of Defense
Anna M. Rosenberg of accusa-
tions of being a Communist,
moved for a court test whether
Mrs. Rosenberg's accusers can
be charged with perjury.
The committee asked the
Justice Department to deter-
mine whether there is evidence
of perjury on the part of those
w h o testified against Mrs.
Rosenberg. Attorney General
J. Howard McGrath was told by
the committee that from the
testimony there "appears to be
a distinct possibility some of
the witnesses may have com-
mitted perjury, subornation or
perjury or perhaps other crim-
inal offenses."

vitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Joseph I.

of the United States and Can-
ada.

Never Knew Al Was Dead

WASHINGTON (AJP)A little
grey-haired pious woman, step-
mother of the great "Mammy
Singer" Al Jolson, died never
knowing that her beloved "Asa"
had succumbed to a heart at-
tack Oct. 23.
The famed Al Jolson took time
from his busy work-crammed
schedule to write home each
week, her son George comment-
ed on his mother's death. Mrs.
Yoelson would constantly ask
whether Ai had written home
and the family always answered
in the affirmative.

year-old Isaac Heyman, of Rio
de Janiero, was stranded on El-
lis Island as immigration au-
thorities pondered over a puz-
zling situation.

mudic Seminary in Brooklyn.
But immigration a u t h o r i ties
checking his entry papers, the
regulations governing admit-
tance into the United States,
discovered that he was too
young to be admitted as a stu-

Brandeis University, which is
now two-years-old, has a stu-
