Michigan Bnai Brith
Celebrates Ann Arbor
Hillel Dedication

"We are imposing on the
young, all the difficulty and
horror of a world, and perhaps
a war, they did not make,". said
Rabbi Arthur J. LelyVeld; na-
tional director of Hillel, in key-
noting a program Dec. 10 in
celebration of the building of
the new University of Michigan
Hillel House. -
"Hillel must be a powerhouse
of 'the Jewish spiritual values
and traditions which will en-
able young men to make life
happy and meaningful," said
Rabbi Lelyveld. "If there is no
one to help youth find meaning
in their lives the single great
tragedy will not be that they
suffer and die, but that they
make their own suffering and
death the frontier of their liv-
ing," he added.
Hundreds of Bnai Brith repre-
sentatives traveled from all -
parts of Michigan to attend the
ceremonies which were dedicat-
ed to Human Rights Day. In
commemoration of. the Festival
of Lights, a giant candelabra
was used to retell the story of
the rededication of the first
Jewish Temple.
The new Bnai Brith Hillel
Foundation will be completed
