Youth and Education -
Programs Slated at
New Temple Israel

Rabbi Leon Fram announces a
program of youth activities and
adult education for the new
building of Temple Israel • at
Manderson and Merton Rds..
The new Temple will open its
doors for the first time . for the
High Holy Day - services begin-
ning Monday night, Sept. 11.
Immediately after the High
Holy Days, the program of Sab-
bath eve services will begin, at
which Rabbi Fram will direct
his sermons to the interests of
young people. Each service will
be followed by an Oneg Shab-
bat and discussion groups.
The Youth - Center Hall on the
second floor of the Temple will
have facilities for dancing,
lunches, suppers, dramatic per-
formances, musicales and lec-
tures for high school youths and
young adults
The building will contain two
libraries—one for the general
public, which will have avail-
able all current books of Jewish
interest, and a religious educa-
tion library, which will contain
reference books and Jewish
classics for the serious Jewish
student, and for the staff of the
Religious School.
Rabbi Leon Fram's class in
current Jewish history, which
he has taught for the past 25
years, will be housed in the new
Temple. Other specific courses
of Jewish study will be an-
nounced later.

ernment and people recognize
it.
He emphasized that there is
general agreement that immi-
gration must continue; that all
efforts must be made to bring
those who can be rescued this
year into the country. He said
that the crops this year were
good, but that there was a
shortage of skilled labor, and
added that the Olim—the new-
comers—are evidencing an in-
creased desire to go to the
farms.
Commenting on the rationing
problem, Rabbi Stollman said
that it is not worse than last
year, but expressed the view
that the closing of the stores was
a healthy sign of the affirmation
of the position of the middle
class.
Pointing out that party strife
has sharpened, Rabbi Stollman
stated that even this condition
is evidence of a healthy situa-
tion. He said that the religious
groups have become stronger and
are affirming their position
more effectively.
