Couple Exchanges Marriage Vows
On Golden Wedding Anniversary

riage ceremony last week. It
was the couple's 50th wedding
anniversary, and their sons and
daughters had gathered for the
affair at Zack's.
Both born in Russian Pol-
and, Mr. Sosnick, 72, came to
America in 1916 and is now re-
tired. Mrs. Sosnick, 70, after
enduring the pogroms in Poland
with their five children, came
to this country in 1919. Follow-
ing the first World War, in the
little town of Rublah, where
they lived, . all the Jews were
gathered together and taxed.
Those who didn't pay were
killed.
Her brother, an uncle to Rabbi
Isaac, Stollman, went to pray
after hiding out for three days
and was hung, wearing his tal-
lith and tefillin with the ropes
of the Sukkoh in which he
prayed. The others escaped,
walked to Pinsk, and finally got
to Warsaw in a freight car.

Cong. Bnai Zion Auxiliary. She
is still active in social and char-

Are Awarded by Hillel
Student winners of interfaith
scholarships awarded by Bnai
Brith Hillel Foundations at
leading universities throughout
the country were announced by
Rabbi Arthur J. Lelyveld, na-
tional director of the Founda-
tions.
The scholarships, bearing the
names of significant leaders in
intercultural and interfaith ex-
change, were awarded to the
student or students who "con-
tributed most during the past
year to interfaith or intercultur-
al relations at that particular
campus."
At the University of Mich-
igan, Deba Butt, a student from
Jeypore, India won the Hillel
Foundation Arnold Schiff Me-
morial Interfaith Award, and
Joyce Simon from Teaneck, N.J.
won the Michigan Bnai Brith
Council Interfaith Award.
Haifa Chapter Planning
Outdoor Social Event
Haifa Chapter, ZOD, will hold
a garden party at 8:30 p.m. Sat-
urday, Aug. 5, at the home of
Dr. and Mrs. Maurice Zunder.

have 21 grandchildren and two
great-granchildren.

Government "will not hestitate
to intervene" should the federal
authorities in Germany fail to
deal with" increasing anti-Semi-
tism there, Lord Henderson,

conference of leaders of Jewish

The conference adopted a

The conference also recom-
