Jewish Congress Has
First German Parley;
Demands Nazi Record
FRANKFURT (JTA)—A de-
mand that the West German
Government produce an official
record of the facts of the exter-
mination and persecution of
European Jews during the Nazi
regime was voiced at the first
conference of the World Jewish
Congress in Germany.
The conference called for leg-
islation making incitement to
racial hatred a punishable
crime. It urged revision of all
text-books with anti - Semitic
material; dismissal of teachers
who foster anti-Semitism in
German schools; the speeding
up of restitution of property and
stronger legislation for indemni-
fication for loss of life, health
and freedom. Assets confiscated
from Nazi war criminals should
be used for this purpose, the
delegates urged. The Bonn Gov-
ernment was also urged to help
transfer heirless and unclaimed
Jewish property through au-
thorized Jewish organizations.
The conference was attended
by delegates of displaced Jews
and Jews living in the German
communities of the three West-
ern zones and the Western 'sec-
tor of Berlin, to "consider the
urgent questions of the welfare
of the Jews of Germany, now
and in the future, and to ascer-
tain their views on general Jew-
ish questions relating to Ger-
many."

BOSTON (JTA)—All Jews will
be removed from important
public positions in Poland and
will be replaced .-by Russian citi-
zens, it is predicted in a report
published here by the Christian
Science Monitor. •
The report says that the
purge of Jewish officials is to be
expected as a result of Marshal
Konstantin Rokossovsky's be-
coming the chief of the Polit-
buro in Poland. Polish-born Ro-
kossovsky "is known for his
anti-Semitic attitude," the pa-
per says, adding that he also
has the reputation of being a
"specialist in conducting
purges."
The first high Jewish official
to be removed -was . Jacob Ber-
man who, from the very begin-
ning of the present Polish Gov-
ernment's existence, has been
known as Moscow's liaison man,
the Monitor reveals. Another
prominent Jewish figure rumor-
ed as marked for demotion is
Hilary Mine, Polish Minister of
Commerce and Industry, the re-
port says.
"The fact that Marshal Ro-
kossovsky is known for his anti-
Semitic attitude strengthens the
belief that he has orders to
make personnel changes that
gradually will result in complete
