; JERUSALEM (ISI)—Protes-
taut communities in . Israel .

language in their religious
services over :Kol Israel, gov-
ernment broadcasting sta-
tion, as long as the content

Constitute an affront to re-
ligious feeling and to other
religious denominations.
Prime Minister David Ben-
Gurion sent letters to that
effect to five Protestant
leaders in answer to their
protest of June 11 after Kol
Israel refused to permit the
Hebrew portion of a scheduled
Protestant religious service
to be broadcast that day.
. A spokesman for the gov-
ernment said that it was "no
departure from the principle
of religious liberty guaran-
teed by Israel to all denomi-
naitons. The fact that all re-
ligious communities, Christian
and Moslem, were invited to
make use of the government
broadcasting service, itself
was evidence of our desire '
that all faiths enjoy every
reasonable facility for the ex-
ercise of religious functions.
Exercise of these functions
by one denomination ought
not to be of a nature likely
to offend adherents of other
denominations."
