Troth Announced

. Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Gerson of the Belcrest left Monday for
New York and Philadelphia, where they will visit their son-in-law
and daughter.
Margery Cutler, a student at the University of Illinois spent
the last week-end as the guest of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Casper
Cutler of Warrington Dr., on the occasion of her brother Donald's
Bar Mitzvah.
Mrs. Leon •Glaclwin of Rochester Ave. is visiting with members-
of
in Yoniton, South Dakota.
Mr. and Mrs. Irving Krenson and their daughter, Corinne,
have returned to New York following a visit with their . son-in-law
and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Philip Giverser of the Seville Hotel.
Dr. and Mrs. Robert Shorr have returned from Chicago where
he has been studying optometry, and will for the present reside
with his mother, Mrs. Mary Shorr of Chicago Blvd.
Mr. and Mrs. Philip J. Cutler of Dexter Boulevard returned
this week from a four-month tour of the West including a visit
with their family in California.
Leon Kay and Morris Schaver attended the dinner marking
the 25th anniversary of the Hebrew University, at Princeton, N. J.,
on May 110. Dr. Albert Einstein presided at the dinner. Mr. Kay
left for Israel the next day.
Dr. and Mrs. Robert Drews will leave Detroit June 18, and
New York June 20, for Europe. They will visit with their son-in-law
and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Raimi. During September, Dr.
Drews will attend conventions in Paris.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Boodin, formerly of Indiana Ave., are
now residing in their new home at 19744 Snowden.
Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Finegold and daughter, Vicki, of Elmhurst
Ave., have returned from a three-month visit to California.
Mrs. B. Friedman and daughter Adele, of Webb Ave., have
returned froth a three-month South American cruise aboard the
SS. Argentina, touching at Bahia Blanca, Mar del Plata and
Buenos Aires where they visited with relatives.

AJC, Covering
Last Prospects

Women's Division Allied Jew-
ish Campaign workers are mop-,
ping up their solicitations this
week, .in order to bring in a re-'
port of 100 percent achievment
to. the workers rally May 23, at
the Northwest Synagogue.
Prospects who were out of
town or who for other reasons
could not be contacted before
the May 11 victory tea will be
reached in this final phase of
the campaign.
Mrs. John C. Hopp, Campaign
chairman for the Division, re-
ports the progress of each sec-
tion as follows: Pre-campaign-
ers, under the leadership of Mrs.
Harry Becker, have raised over
$285,000 and have 10 per cent
of their prospects left to cover.
Mrs. Samuel S. Aaron and her
special gifts Workers have
Drought in more than $115,000.
Workers in general solicitation,
with Mrs. William B. Isenberg as
chairman, have raised $92,000
and still have 4,000 prospects to
see.
An evaluation of women's role
in the 195Q campaign will be pre-
sented to year-round board
members of the Women's Divi-
sion, Friday, May 26, at the
Jewish Center.
The campaign executive com-
mittee is preparing the evalua-
tion, under the chairmanship of
Mrs. Julian H. Krolik.
Members of the committee

Dr. Edward Jandy
Trains for Israel Post

Dr. Edward C. Jandy, former
associate professor of sociology
at Wayne University who has
been appointed cultural officer
in the Public Affairs Division of
the Department of State, is now
engaged in a six-week training
course in Washigton, D. C., and
New York City, preparatory to
leaving for his Tel Aviv, Israel
post.
As cultural officer, Dr.- Jandy
will deal with matters of mutual
cultural interest to Israelites
and Americans, and will seek to
further the understanding of
American literature, arts, educa-
tion, industry and other phases
of American life. He will also
handle exchange-of-persons ac-
tivities, advising Israel students
planning to attend. American
colleges and universities.
Dr. Jandy was welfare director
of the UNRRA Ethiopian Mis-
sion from November, 1945 to
January, 1947. He was secretary
of the Michigan Corrections As-
sociation from 1947 to 1948, and
served as secretary-treasurer,
vice president and president of
the Michigan Sociological Soci-
ety. He is a member , of the
board of directors of Dodge
Community House and has been
on Wayne's faculty since 1929.
His wife and daughter will
join him in Israel.

All staff memberS of the Jew-
ish Vocational Service of Detroit
have been accepted as "Profes-
sional Members" of the National
Vocational Guidance Association,
it was learned at a meeting of
t h e professional membership
committee of the Association, in
Atlantic City.

On Family Life Project

Louis Rosenzweig, chairman
of the internal relations com-
mittee of the Jewish Communi-
ty Council, announces that a
special sub-committee has been
created to work with the Fami-
ly Life Project of Wayne Uni-
versity. '
Directed by Prof. William W.
Wattenberg, the project is an
overall planning unit for future
activities in the area of marri-
age and child-parent relation-
ships.
The Family Life Project and
Council committee will work to-
gether on specific problems con-
fronting Jewish persons in the
area of domestic-relations.
