Unveilings
Direct Teletype Wires to The Jewish News
. JERUSALEM—(JTA)—The Is-
rael Parliament has approved
the government's policy on
Transjordan's annexation of the
Arab part of Palestine by a vote
of 53 to 0, with many members
abstaining. All opposing party
motions on the question were
defeated.
Before debate ended, Nathan
Friedman-Yellin,. former Stern-
ist commander and now head of
the Fighters Party, called on the
government to reopen the war
on Transjordan. Insisting that
the government should have
warned Transjordan that annex-
ation would be considered a hos-
tile act, the one-time under-
ground leader demanded . that
the Premier issue orders to the
Army Chief of Staff "to com-
plete the war on liberation."
Jabotinsky Urges Israel
Constitution Be Adopted
The first speech in French
was delivered in the Israel Par-
liament Monday night by Eri
Jabotinsky, son of the late
founder of the Zionist Revision-
ist Party, during a debate on the
need for a constitution..
Mr. Jabotinsky spoke in
French in order to show that in
the absence of a constitution
any language could be consider-
ed official. He insisted on early
adoption by Israel of a consti-
tution which has been in prep-
aration for a long time and ad-
vocated that 'Arabic should not
enjoy preferential treatment in
Israel.
After speaking for three min-
utes in French during which he
attempted to review the inter-
national situation, he was call-
to order by the speaker follow-
ing protests from the House,
whereupon Jabotinsky continued
to speak in Hebrew. He predict-
ed that west Germany will join
Russia in the event a world war
breaks out.

cil of Kibbutz HaHeuhad—the
collective settelment movement
of Israel which has 30,000 mem-
bers in 80 settlements—conclu-
ded a two day convention Tues-
day at Yagur with a number of
resolutions opposing a sugges-
tion voiced last week by Pre-
mier David Ben-Gurion that
hired labor be used in collective
settlements.
The resolution demanded an
end to the hiring of labor in
any of the settlements of the
movement. They stressed • pref-
erence for continuation of the
traditional • policy of employing
only members of a collective
settlement on the land and in
the shops belonging to the set-
tlement. The convention decided
to complete arrangements for
the immediate absorption in the
settlements of several hundred
refugee children.
