For Israel Housing
NEW YORK-The shortage of
low-cost housing for immigrants
and established settlers now liv-
ing in crowded tent-and-bar-
racks cities was cited as one of
Israel's most acute problems by
Eliahu Elath, Israeli Ambassa-
dor to the U. S., at a conference
of labor union officials called
by the newly organized Amun-
Israeli Housing Corporation, a
joint non-profit enterprise of
management and labor, with of-
fices at 270 Park Ave., New York.
The corporation is promoting
the sale of a $10,000,000 bond
issue to _finance the building of
low-cost homes in Israel. $3,-
000,000 worth of the bonds were
subscribed by unions at the con-
ference, the first the corpora-
tion has called.

Little Southern Mocking Birds:
WASHINGTON - The a n t
Semites were quick to notice the
support of the United Jewish
Appeal by outstanding Christian
personalities who form the Na-
tional Christian Committee to
Aid UJA.
The committee is under the
chairmanship of Rep. Franklin
D. • Roosevelt, Jr., and includes
sueh people as Secretary of Ag-
riciiiture Charles F. Brannan,
Secretary of Interior Oscar
Chapman, Mrs. Eleanor Roose-
velt, Sen. Robert A. Taft, Mrs.
J. Borden Harriman, Philip Mur-
ray, House Majority Leader John
McCormack, and others.
Recently, members of the
committee began receiving mail
from the so-called "West Vir-
ginia Anti - Soviet Educational
League.". Sen. Taft received a
letter complaining that he had
j oined with "Congressman
Franklin D. Roosevelt; Jr. and
his un-American mother to
, act
as co-chairman in raising $272,
455,800 for the special benefit
of organized Jewry."
"Your action in this matter
is a great disappointment to
millions of us who were looking
to you for leadership and who
had hoped that you would not
lend your name to such a pro-
ject and would not attempt to
`outbid' young Roosevelt for the
Zionist-Marxist New York Jew-
ish vote.

forced to follow this Jewish pub-
licity machine, and its unlimited
political money power, of which
