Garin Bet Formed
At Haoleh Seminar

At a seminar-convention held
in Buffalo, Feb. 10 to 12, young
adults from New York, Chicago,
Detroit, Toronto, Syracuse, and
Buffalo met and formed the
second Garin "Bet" group of
Haoleh, chalutz arm of the In-
tercollegiate Zionist Federation
of America.
The garin plans to form a
collective settlement that will
combine agriculture and indus-
try.
The first garin "Aleph" of
Haoleh is going to Israel this
year and will form a kibbutz
there. There are 17 members of
the garin and more are sought
IZFA and in the general
in
Jewish community.
Future plans of the garin are
to train members for participa-
tion in a kibbutz that will com-
bine agriculture . and ,industry.
Along with the other groups of
Haoleh the garin will hold a
six-week seminar this suinmer.
The Detroit garin meets on
Sundays for edudational and
social activities. They also pub-
lish a newsletter • and magazine.

industrialized and • :democratic

YPS 'Queen Esther'
Ball Features Bill Gail

The Queen Esther Ball, spon-
sored by Young People's Society,
will be held in the Shaarey Ze-
dek social hall Saturday, Feb.
25. Dancing will be from 9 till
12 p.m. to the. music of Bill
Gail and his orchestra.
Chairman and co-chairmen
of the affair are Sol Glosser,
Helen Noble and May Zorn. The
main event of the evening will
be a grand march honoring a
Queen Esther who will be chosen
at the Vail.
Paid-up YPS members will be
admitted without charge. Per-
sons who wish to pay their 1950
dues will be able to do so at the

Chapter I, ZOD, Plans
Purim Dance, March 4

As part of its new policy of
offering a complete social calen-
dar, Chapter One, Zionist Or-
ganization of Detroit, will hold
a Purim dance at 9 p.m. Satur-
day, March 4, at the Center,
Woodward at Holbrook. Floyd
Snyder and his band will pro-
vide music. Social_ committee
chairman is Sol Wildstrom.
Chapter One's March 15 meet-
ing will be at the Rose Sittig
Cohen Bldg., Lawton at Tyler.
A marriage clinic, round table
on sex, and -discussion of prob-
lems peculiar to Jewish marriage
will make up the program.

Young Adult Council
Announces Purim Dance

Detroit Jewish Young Adult
Council has scheduled a Purim
Dance for Sunday evening, Feb.
26, at the Jewish Center, Wood-
ward at Holbrook.
Members of the twenty-six
different local youth organiza-
tions who make up. the Young
Adult Council will attend.
Evelyn Stollman, holiday proj-
ects committee chairmen, an-
nounces that Dick Stein and his
orchestra will play. All young
adults are invited to attend.

the. door.

Sociologist to Address

Jr. Hadassah Program

Junior Hadassah will present
its monthly Oneg Shabbat, Fri-
day evening, March 3, at the
Halvey Center, Linwood at Fleet.
Dr. Harold Sheppard, profes-
sor of - sociology at Wayne Uni-
versity, will discuss intermar-
riage. All young people, ages 18
to 35, are welcome. For further

the Juniors' special gifts corn-

since December to work out the
details of the dinner.
