NEW YORK, (JTA)—A lunch-

guests, marked the organiza-
tion's fifth annual stockholders

Abraham Dickenstein. secre-
tary-treasurer of AMPAL, re-
ported that during the past 12
months AMPAL increased its as-
sets to $9,500,000. He said that
since the inception of the state
of Israel, AMPAL invested $9,-
000,000 there, $5,000,000 of which
was placed during the past year
alone. This, he stated, made
AMPAL the largest foreign in-
stitution to invest in Israel, Mr.
Dickenstein also revealed that
the dividend rate of AMPAL

cent for the past year. Other

nounced the formation of a
speakers and artists bureau of
"Hechalutz," the organization
sponsoring agricultural training
for volunteer settlers in Israel.
The bureau will make available
prominent artists and lecturers
on Israel, Zionism and the prob-
lems of settling in Israel. .

Shapero Heads Drive
For Polio Foundation
The Wayne County Chapter
of The National Foundation
for Infantile Paralysis this
week announced-. that plans
are being made for the an-
nual March of Dimes to take
place during the last two
weeks in January, 1950. For
the third consecutive year,
Nate S. Shapero, president of
Cunningham Drug stores, is
campaign chairman.
The March of Dimes activi-
ties do not duplicate those of
the recently completed Torch
Drive and they are conducted
with the knowledge of the
United Foundation. In addi-
tion to the Roosevelt Memor-
ial Ball, they will include
such familiar activities as the
March of Dimes mailing
cards, canisters in retail
stores, and tables in down-
town business places.
