Courses will include: General
Jewish History, American Jew-
ish History, Biblical Literature,
Religion, the State of Israel,
Jewish Contemporary Life, and
Hebrew.
Enrollment is open and free of
charge to Temple members, af-
filiated organizations, and their
friends. Registration is h el d
Monday evenings from 7 -to 8
p.m., weekdays from 9 to 5 p.m.,
and weekends from 9 a.m. to 12
noon.

Cong. Bnai Moshe will initiate
the Jacob Gelbman membership
class at a dinner dance at 6 p.m.
Sunday, November 27.
The class is named in memory
of the late Mr. Gelbman, who
was an officer for many years.
He died in 1943.

in the initiation ceremony fol-
lowing the dinner. Rabbi Moses
Lehrman and Rabbi Moses Fis-
cher will participate. Ben F.
Goldman will be the toastmaster.
The new membership class
was enrolled during a campaign
which commenced in January
and was terminated in March. It
was headed by Morris Direnfeld,
special chairman, and Andrew
Iczkovitz, chairman of the
standing membership committee.
They will also participate in the
program.
Harry Gunsberg and Louis
Kepes are in charge of dinner
arrangements.
Jewish Book Month will be ob-
served by Cong. Bnai Moshe
Tuesday, Nov. 29, Under the
sponsorship of the Men's Club.
The program will begin at 9
p.m., following the adult classes.
A display of current Jewish liter-
ature will be part of the pro-
gram.
Rabbi Moses Lehrman will re-
view "The Challenging Years"
by the late Dr. Stephen Wise.
The public is invited.

European Welfare
Group Plans Dinner

A board of directors meeting
Monday, Nov. 28, at the home
of Mrs. P. Efrusy, 2519 Pingree,
will complete plans for the 29th
annual dinner-dance
. . ........ . ........... of the Jew-

ham.
The new group, consisting of
younger men in the congrega-
tion, was organized at a break-
fast meeting last Sundays at
the synagogue.
Heading the constitution and
charter committee is Nathan J.
Kaufman. Sidney Schlaff acted
as secretary. H. P. Weller, vice
president of the congregation,
brought the parent body's good
wishes. Breakfast was served by
a Beth Abraham Sisterhood
committee.
A preliminary meeting of the
constitution and charter com-
mittee will be held at 10:30 a. m.
this Sunday, and the steering
committee will meet at 8:30 p.m.
Tuesday, Nov. 29.
Saturday evening, Nov. 26,
Cong. Beth Abraham will hold
a M'laveh Malkah supper in
honor of the installation of of-
ficers. Those to be installed are:
Louis Ellenbogen, president; H.
P. Weller, vice president; B.
Zucker, treasurer; H. Weisen-
feld, recording secretary; Louis
Last, financial secretary; J.
Landgarten, sexton.

DR. SANFORD POLANSKY,
physician and surgeon, an-
nounces the opening of offices
for the general practice of medi-
cine at 84 W. Main St. Benton
Harbor. Born in Detroit, he is a
member of the Wayne County
Medical Society, and was grad-
uated from Wayne University
College of Medicine.

Governor to Call Dance
Of Roosevelt H & S

Governor and Mrs. G. Mennen
Williams will be guests at the
barn dance to be given by the
Roosevelt Home and School As-
sociation at 9 p.m. Wednesday,
Nov. 30, in the gymnasium at the
Durfee Intermediate School. The
governdr has consented to do the
calling. Thlere will be profes
sional music.

is the theme of an exhibit ar-
ranged by Shaarey Zede.k Li-
brary marking Jewish Book
month which is being observed
through Dec. 11.
Displayed are works in Eng-
lish, Hebrew and Yiddish. Among
the titles are: "In the Beginning,
Book II," by Rabbi Solomon
Goldman; "Famous Musicians of
Jewish Origin," by Gdal Saleski;
"Challenging Years: the Auto-
biography of Stephen S. Wise;"
and "The World of Emma Laza-
rus," by H. E . Jacob.
Of special interest is the
translation of the Book of
Judges, Book Fourteen in The
Code of Maimonides, by Pr. A.

Observes Nov. Birthdays

The Jewish Home for Aged
held birthday celebrations Nov.
16 for residents whose birthdays
fall in November, announced Dr.
Benjamin D. Welling, chairman
of the recreation and occupa-
tional therapy committee.
Entertainment was provided
by the Detroit Police Depart-
ment Choral Group directed by
Frank Smith, accompanied by
Lieut. Violet Farrell. Mrs. Mar-
garet Savelly sang "Il Bacio"
(The Kiss) and "You Alone."
Another vocalist, Margaret
Kormendy of Temple Beth El
Choir, sang Yiddish and Hebrew
songs; accompanied by Mrs.
Herman Bregman.
The program ended with Mor-
ris Kesner, assisted by Mollie
Shaw, leading the residents in
group singing. Party arrange-
ments were made by the Home's
Women's Auxiliary under the di-
rection of Mrs. Joseph Rose.
