pated in numerous commissions concerned with the welfare
of Israel. Dr. Nahum Goldmann will bring a report of his
experiences to the hundreds of Detroiters who will attend
the annual $100 dinner of the Hadassah Honor Roll.Drive, to

at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20,

Roosevelt was recently elected
Representative to Congress from
the District which had been
represented by the late Sol
Bloom for over 20 years. He re-
cently returned from five weeks
in Israel, gathering statistics
and information on which he
will base his talk, "Impressions
of Israel as a Nation."

GENEVA—(JTA)—I. Kaniev-
sky, director of the social insur-
ance department of the Israel
Ministry of Labor, is one of a
four-member committee of In-
ternational Labor Office experts
which concluded a series of
meetings dealing with problems
related to the financing of so-
cial insurance plans.
A gala celebration dinner is
being planned by Arlazaroff
Branch of the Jewish National
Workers Alliance to mark its
15th year on Sunday, Nov. 13.
Maurice Samuel, noted Jewish
author, will be guest speaker.
The newly-elected secretary of
the Histadrut in Israel is ex-
pected to attend.
The dinner also will help raise
funds for the branch's extensive
projects for Israel, including the
Histradut campaign and plant-
ing of the Jewish National Fund
Forests, and for cultural work

which will be published in con-
junction with the affair.

100th Group of DPs
Arrives in New York
NEW YORK—The 100th ship
to bring DPs to the United
States for resettlement under
provisions of the Displaced Per-
sons Act of 1948 steamed into
New York, harbor Oct. 10.
Arrival of the General Muir
brought the total of Jewish dis-
placed persons brought to this
country under the DP .Act of
1943 to about 23,250, more than
half of whom came with the
aid of United Service for New
Americans.
