National Parley

The 54th annual convention
of the JWV will be held at
Miami Beach, Oct. 19 to*23. Pre-
sent will be Detroit's Rabbi Her-
bert Eskin, National Chaplain of
the Veterans of Foreign Wars
and a member of Lt. Eli Levin
Post who will address the con-
vention.
The Detroit contingent will be
led by department commander
Philip Cantor and national exe-
cutive committeeman Harry T.
Madison. Among those attend-
ing are Mrs. Mae Ginsburg who
will lead the Auxiliary, Leon
Ginsburg,. Mrs. Harry T. Madi--
son, Mr. and Mrs. Morris Tulip-
man, Mrs. Allan A. Marks, Mrs.
Arthur A. Brown, Sol M. Hober-
man, Arthur Edelstein, Mrs.
Arlene Rhodes, Joseph Jones,
Mr. and Mrs. Herman Cohen,
Mr. and Mrs. Krasner, Mrs. Ben
Cowen, and Mrs. Belle Bercowitz.
The convention will close with
election of a new national com-
mander.

Sargeant Morton A. Silverman
Post will be held in Berdichever
Hall, Linwood and Davison, at
8:30 p. m. Oct. 17. The program
committee, headed by Senior
Vice-Commander Irving Yack-
ness, has announced that Philip
Cantor, Michigan Department
commander, will be guest of
honor. Cantor will review recent
activities of the Department.
The program will include a
symposium on "The Jewish- Vet-
erans' Stake s in Civil Rights."

Hirsch, department quarter -
master and a member of the
Silverman Post, and Walter
Klein, post judge-advocate.

A display and sale of silver,
jewelry, china, painting and
many other objects d'art is
promised the Detroit commun-
ity by the local. Women's Ameri-
can ORT in its second annual
antique show, to be held Mon-
day and Tuesday, Oct. 17 and 18,
in the Arabian Room of the
Hotel Tuller.
Additional dealers are offer-
ing their wares this year, and
there will also be a table of val-
uable pieces donated by mem-

bers of the organization.
More than 150 members of the
organization are contributing
their services during the two
days. Refreshments will be serv-
ed during the entire time of the
sale.
Mrs. Arthur Bloom, ORT presi-
dent, has been in charge of the
general planning of the affair,
proceeds of which go to the
M.O.T. program, and the new
teachers training school in
Switzerland.
