tion will open in New York City
Nov. 9.
At the same time, the commit-
tee lashed out at the "undemo-
cratic.. convention rules formu-
lated by a desperate leadership
deathly afraid of the member-
ship." The committee statement
was issued by Rabbi Shepherd
Z. Baum, acting chairman.
The committee also announc-
ed the immediate launching of
a national campaign among
Congress members to reinstate
the recently expelled Detroit
Chapter, to culminate with the
introduction of a 'resolution to
this effect at the convention.
The CDAJC statement follows
in part:.
"This is the time to build the
American Jewish Congress, not
to splinter and destroy it. "Nev-
ertheless, at this very time, the
national office has brought
about the expulsion of the pow-
erful Detroit Metropolitan Cen-
ter, on the basis of flimsy,
hyper-technical charges. By this
action, the national office is
preventing the•voice of the 400-
odd members of the chapter
from being registered at the
convention.
"The days of the Rabbi Miller-
Polier-Petegorsky leadership are
numbered. Congress will soon be
returned to the people." .

Jewish Schools of Detroit Unite
In Urging Education for Children

The Yiddish, congregational,
and Hebrew schools of Detroit
have joined in sending a mailing
to every family itt this city, urg-
ing that all Jewish children be
given an opportunity for a Jew-
ish education. The mailing was
issued through the Jewish Wel-
fare Federation. •
The mailing — which answers
the Why, What and When of a
Jewish education — reminds all
parents that "Girls are children
too. It's an out-dated idea—this,
of educating our sons and not
our daughters. We today provide
our daughters with secular 'edu-
cation to the same degree that
we do our sons. It is just as im-
portant to do that with Jewish
education."
Emphasizing that a Jewish ed-
ucation will help children to
meet positively the "Jewish as-
pects of their lives," the mail-
ing stresses, also, that the time
to begin a Jewish education is
"now". •
Schools joining in the marling
are the Jewish Folk Schools,

Jewish People's School, 'United
Hebrew Schools, United Jewish
-High School, Workmen's Circle
Schools, Yeshivath Beth Yehu-
dah, Cong. Beth Aaron, Congr.
