International Refugee Organi-
zatiOn, succeeding William H.
Tuck. Mr. Kingsley is at pres-
ent deputy administrator of the
Federal Security Agency in
Washington.
IRO's 18-member general coun-
cil adopted a schedule of liqui-•
dation for the organization. On
Aug. 31, refugees will no longer
be accepted for care or protec-
tion; on Dec. 31, admisthons to
the IRO's refugee camps will
cease; on June 30, 1950, all care
and maintenance activities con-
ducted by the organization will
end. The decision to suspend
the IRO's activities as of June
30, 1950, was opposed by the U.S.
and Britain, as well as- by Tuck.

MOSCOW (JTA)—Soviet Pres-
ident Mikhail Shvernik received
the new Israeli Minister, Mor-
decai, at the Kremlin. Namir
and the legation staff were
hosts at a luncheon to Pavel
Yershov, Soviet Minister to Tel
Aviv, and his wife. Namir was
received by Soviet Foreign Min-
ister Andrei Y. Vishinsky to
whom he presented his creden-
tials.
President Shvernik told Namir
that the Soviet Government de-
sires to see relations between
the Soviet Union and Israel
velop on a basis of mutual
friendship. He emphasized the
fact that the USSR was the first
world power to grant de jute
recognition to Israel.
The Soviet President asked the
Israeli diplomate general ques-
tions' regarding the situation in
Israel. Andrei Gromyko, Deputy
Foreign Minister, participated in
the conversation, which w a s
conducted in the Russian lan-
guage. The latter displayed de-
tailed knowledge of the prob-
lems now confronting the Jew-
ish state.

Revisionist Party; Asks
Memorial Recitations
Explanation of the newly-
formed World Federation, or
Igud, of Zionists Revisionists,
was offered this week by M.
Manuel Merzon, Detroit Revi-
sionist leader.
The new World Federation
consists - of the Thuat Haherut,
the Freedom party, in Israel, and
the Zionists . Revisionists, Chutz
Laaretz, in the Diaspora, Mer-
zon said. The activities of both
groups, as well as of Betar, the
youth movement of the party,
will be coordinated, he added.
Merzon pointed out that the
anniversaries of the death of
Theodor Herzl and Chaim Nach-
man Bialik, as well as of the
Revisionist founder, Zeev Jabo-
.tinsky, will be observed Sunday,
July 7; Monday, July 18, and
Tuesdy, July 26, respectively. He
called upon all congregations to
recite memorial prayers at Sab-
bath services preceding these
anniversaries.
