Aptekar Affiliates
With North Star

Ben Rubenstein, director of
North Star Camp, announces
that David Aptekar has entered
into association with the organ-
ization.
Aptekar is president of the
Michigan Camping Association,
a non-profit organization which
is devoted to raising standards
of Michigan camps, and is a
member of the national board
of the American Camping Asso-
ciation.
For the past eight years he
has been executive director of
Camp Livingstone near Cincin-
nati, 0. He is past director of
Farband Camp, Camp Habonim
and the senior unit of Fresh Air
Camp.
Aptekar has written many
articles on child problems and
camping and has lectured on
the same topics. He is a mem-
ber of the Religious School
Board of Temple Israel and a
delegate to the Council of So-
cial Agencies, Group Work and
Recreation Division.
He will continue at Camp
Livingstone this summer, but
will be at North Star for a short
stay in mid-season. Beginning
in the fall he will be actively
engaged in planning and admin-
istration of the camp. Plans are
under way for major expansion
of the facilities and construction
of a girls unit for the 1950 sea-
son.

Greenbush Expects Big
Fourth of July Weekend

There is every indication that
the resort business is going to
boom this year, if the experience
of H. L. Dermer, of Greenbush
Inn, is a criterion. "Our Decor-
ation Day weekend which open-
ed the season broke all rec-
ords and it looks as if the July
Fourth party will be even more
successful," he said.
Nafe Allen, well known mas-
ter of ceremonies, has been
signed as social director of the
popular Lake Huron resort. He
will team with the Jack Weick
Trio to keep things humming
indoors and will supervise the
out of ddors activities as well.
These include bathing, fishing,
golf, riding, tennis, shuffleboard
and badminton.
Greenbush makes a special
appeal to young people.
The famous resort hotel is 200
miles from Detroit on U. S. 23,
on the East Michigan shore of
Lake Huron.

D and C Ships Begin
Weekend Cruise Trips

D & C Navigation Company

land, Georgian Bay and the
Martyrs' Shrine at Canada's
Midland, Ontario, Friday, June
24.
As in previous years D & C
will maintain a week-end sched-
ule leaving Friday afternoon and
returning Monday morning and

troit Monday afternoon and re-
