Mrs. John C. Hopp, one of the
campaign chairmen of the Worn-
en's Division of the Jewish Wel-
fare Federation and Mrs. Harry
Jackson, executive director of
the Women's Division of the
Jewish Welfare Federation, have
ben appointed to the national
Committee on Women's Partici-
pation in Communal Service, of
the Council of Jewish Federa-
tions and Welfare Funds, it was
announced here.
The committee has been ex-
panded to include 34 members
from all parts of the nation, in
recognition of the growing im-
portance of local community
Women's Divisions as a force in
the year round service activities
of American Jewry. Mrs. Leo M.
Greenwald of St. Louis, heads
the committee.
Utilizing the theme of "total
mobilization for total communi-
ty service," the committee will
increase its program of aid to
local Women's Division s. In-
volved will be stimulation of
greater service on the boards
and year round committees of
Federations, welfare funds and
community councils, with women
lending their abilities and time
to budgeting, community plan-
ning, research, and in meeting
other community needs:
The committee will provide
active leadership and concrete
aid to communities by issuing
regular bulletins to spread the
benefits of successful local ex-
perience, guidance to individual
cities, and joint regional and
national meetings, and surveys
of such women's programs.
Permanent year round divi-
sions have been organized in 15
cities, Mrs. Greenwald said, with
many more contemplating simi-
lar action. Analysis of the pro-
grams of these operating di-
visions reveals a pattern of con-
tinuous service in the operation
of the welfare fund or federa-
tion, she added.
