War Veterans, at the annual
convention at the Fort Wayne
Hotel, June . 4 and 5.

Gov. Williams said he has an
important message to deliver to
the Jewish War Veterans. He is
a veteran of World War II.
Mayor Van Antwerp will re-
port on his recent European trip.
The JWV is seeking the
mother who had the largest
number of children in service to
receive a special citation. In-
formation can be called into the
JWV Convention Office, WO.

JWV members are urged to
purchase their banquet tickets
as soon as possible. The com-
mittee in charge has arranged
for a kosher meal.
Herbert Burdick, commander
of the Sholem Post, is chairman
of the convention. Rose Cowan,
chief of staff of the Ladies Aux-
iliary, is chairman of the Ladies
Auxiliary Department conven-
tion.

2 Finish 12-Year
Course at Yeshivah

The fist class to complete the
full 12-year course at Beth Ye-
hudah schools will graduate on
June 26, according to Joseph
Goldberg, principal of general
studies. The graduates are Al-
fred E. Rubin, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Hill Rubin, 2485 Blaine,
and Yehudah Cohen, 18, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Solomon B. Cohen,
3203 Webb.
Each year, in recent years, the
Yeshiva has added a grade to
its Board- of-Education - ap-
proved course of general studies,
and now a complete high school
curriculum is offered.
Goldberg also announces the
completion of the first semester
of use of the newly-completed
physics laboratory.
Ten scholarships for t h e
school were recently contributed
by the Youth Education League,
a gift of $800. First of these
scholarships was awarded -to
Golda Schiller, who arrived less
than a month ago from Europe.
Golda, who is four, and lives at
2972 Glendale, had spent almost
her entire lifetime in flight from
one place to another with her
parents. Her enrollment at the
Yeshiva will mark her first op-
portunity to play with other
children in a normal situation.
She speaks both German and
Yiddish.

Commencement
Exercises at Beth
El on May 27

Annual commencement exer-
cises of the Beth El High School
will be held on Friday evening,
May 27, at 8:15 p. m.
The graduates will be greeted
by Dr. B. Benedict Glazer and
Rabbi Sidney Akselrad. The
Valedictory will be delivered by
Marvin Diamond.
Student participants in the
service will be Jerome Altman,
David Edgar, Judith Isenberg,
Marilyn Kirschmann and Mary
Lou Salmon.
Diplomas and gift prayer
books • will be presented by Dr.
Herbert. I. Kallet, president of
Temple Beth El, activity and
scholarship awards by Benja-
min Wilk, chairman of the re-
ligious school committee.
Other graduates in addition to
the participants are Harry J.
Carris, Barry S. Collier, Barry
H. Levine, Harold B. Levy, Dud-
ley I.. Davies, James Samter and
Donald Simon.

UHS Announces
Summer _Program

The United Hebrew Schools
again is sponsoring a special
summer program to include ed-
ucation, religious and recrea-
tional activities.
Children will meet in their re-
spective schools from 9:30 a.m.
to 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Tues-
day, Wednesday and Thursday,
and from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
on Friday. The schedule of the
day will be as follows:
9:30 a.m. — Special morning
service conducted by

10:00 a.m.—Classes to be held

Fifty four boys and girls, the
largest confirmation class in the
history of Temple Israel, will be
confirmed on the eve of Shev-
uoth, Thursday, June 2, at 8 p.m.
in the Auditorium of the De-
troit Institute of Arts.
Rabbi Leon Fram has written
a new pageant service on a
theme suggested by the class,
"Israel Our Temple and Israel
the Jewish State". Three mem-
bers of the class have written
their own parts in the service.
