April 18. Funeral services were

son, Herman, daughters, Mrs.
Eve Sheldon, Mrs. Edith Freund-

Blanche Hart Dies
Blanche Hart, one-time direc-
tor of the United Jewish Chari-
ties in Detroit, died on April 2/3
in Rochester, N. Y., where she
made her home since leaving
this city in 1925.
. For many years, Miss Hart was
the only Jewish social worker in
Detroit. Under her direction, the
United Jewish Charities became
a powerful factor in this com-
munity. It was succeeded by the
Jewish Welfare Feder a t i o n,
which became the all-inclusive
commun ity organization, the
United Jewish Charities becom-
ing the property-holding agency
of the Federation. •
Miss Hart is Survived by three
nieces and three nephews.

The jury for the awards, accord-
ing to the Center Art Commit-
tee, includes Jane Welling, John
Coppin, Louis Redstone and Ed-
ward Yaeger. As many as four
entries may be submitted, in aiy
medium, including sculptures, by
all Jewish artists in Michigan.
At least one work will be ex-
hibited. Entry blanks may be
secured by writing the Jewish
Community Center art commit-
