Judaism Institute
At Temple Beth El

Redstone Designs Architectural Plans for New

Multipurpose Center of Flint's Temple Beth El

Rabbi Morton M. Applebaum of Temple Betl,
E, Flint, Mich., announced plans for construction
of a new multipurpose center.
The new structure, designed by Louis G. Red-
stone, architect, will • be of brick and stone finish
and will stand on a plot of five and a fifth acres
at Ballenger Highway and Beecher Road, Flint,
directly opposite the site for the proposed Wo-
men's Hospital.
The building will include a chapel with a seating
capacity of 200 persons. This will be joined, at
the rear, with an assembly hall equipped for stage
performances and seating 500. Thus it will be
possible for 700 persons to attend one gathering.

Mrs. Rose Kazdan, widow of
the late Ezreal Kazdan, and her
children, Mrs. Harry Sturman,
Samuel, Dr. Morris, Herman and
Dr. Louis Kazdan, will present a
Sefer Torah in memory of their
husband and father to Beth
Shmuel Synagogue, at a cere-
mony at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30.
The procession, in which the
Torah will be carried to the syna-
gogue, at Dexter and Buena
Vista, will begin from Mrs. Stur-
man's home at 3042 Sturtevant.

Temple Beth El was organized in 1927 with the
late Maurice F. Rosenbloom as first president of
the group. Ellis H. Warren, present president, is
the sixth in line, and also was the second.
The building committee includes Martin Gordon
and Dr. Max Hart, co-chairmen; and Rabbi Apple-
baum, who came to Flint in 1943. His congrega-
tion now includes 400 adults and 120 children, and
has doubled during Mr. Applebaum's tenure.
