This year's observance of the Festival of Lights, the first Hanukah since the establishment of the State
of Israel, is in many respects similar to the Hanukah first celebrated in Jerusalem 2113 years ago after
the heroic victory of the Maccabees. Today, as th en, Israel is rejoicing in its regained independence.

Eire Negotiates with Israel
