Israel No Longer Bound
By UN Partition Decision
TEL AVIV, (JTA)—"We are
no longer bound by the United
_Nations partition decision of No-
vember 29," Premier David Ben
Gurion declared in a written
reply in the State Council an-
swering questions by Arieh Alt-
man, leader of the Palestine Re-
visionist Party.
Dr. Chaim Weizmann, touring
Israel, visited Naharia and
promised that the town won't
be detached from Israel. Speak-
ing at Nahalal he said: "Political
intrigue won't succeed. I hope
the final result will be positive.
Travelling across the country I
feel and see the Yishuv's creative
strength. I hope that by midyear
we'll launch big economic pro-
ects, greatly increasing our ab-
rptiVitY."
Ben Gurion addressed a pio-
neering youth organization some-
where in Israel and said that the
struggle for liberation is unfin-
ished, that victory will not be
final and decisive until invaders
are thrown out. He said every
trench in the Negev will be con:-
vested into a settlement while
along Galilee's coast area hun-
dreds of settlements will spring
up.

American Red Mogen Dovid del-
egation officially visited Israel
recently, and there was some
confusion among the Israeli au-
thorities. AS a result of the visit
of our delegation to Israel, all
these matters have been clad-
fied.
"We have never raised funds
in the name of the Israeli Gov-
ernment, as the cable implies.
- "The Red Mogen Dovid is the
Only organization which special-
izes in providing ambulances and
blood plasma in fsrael. We have
taken care of all the blood plas-
ma needs of the civilian popula-
tion and the Israeli Army med-
ical service and we have now
been entrusted by the Israeli
Supply Mission with the full
responsibility of making availa-
ble 400 additional embulances to
cover the needs of the Israeli
Army medical service. We also
have documentary evidence of
these facts here in Detroit, which
proves that the misleading in-
ferences in the Federation state-
ment are false. •
"The Detroit. League of the
American Red Mogen Dovid wel-
comes to its ranks all Jews and
Jewish organizations who are
interested in helping to give
first-aid emergency service to .our
brethren in Israel. No amount
of slanderous pressure will keep
us from continuing our work."

Jack M. Nevel, president of
the Detroit League of Red Mogen
Dovid, issued a reply to the
Jewish Welfare Federation's
statement published last week.
Mr. Nevel .said: •
"The Detroit League of Red
Mogen Dovid deplores and
strongly protests the statement
issued by the Federation, which
was published without prior con-
sultation with the Detroit League
and at a - time- when our organi-•
zation was in correspondence
with the Federation concerning
its activities-in this city.
"The statement published last
week in The Jewish News -is so
slanted • as to discredit and nulli-
fy the work of the Red Mogen
Dovid both in Israel and the
U. S. The headline on the story,
`Red Mogen Dovid Not Author-
ized to Raise Funds, Federation
Says', is a vicious • slander, in-
asmuch as it purports to imply
that we have set ourselves up
as a fund-raising group.
"The Detroit League and the
National organization of the Red
Mogen Dovid has never stated
it is a fund-raising organization.
The American Red Mogen Dovid
for Palestine is set up strictly
as a membership group, and at
present our local group is en-
gaged in a membership campaign
in conjunction with the national
campaign for 250,000 Red Mogen
Dovid members.
