Death Calls Mrs. Leo M. Franklin;
Survived Husband by Two Months
Fund, was active in women's di-
visions of relief drives, was a
leader in the Temple SisterhoOd
and civic, religious and social
causes.
She is survived by her son,
Leo I. Franklin; a daughter, Mrs.
Stanley Fleischaker; three broth-
ers, Herbert M., Joseph H. and
Walter S. Oberfelder, and two
sisters, Mrs. Melville S. Welt and
Mrs. Arthur H. Spiegel.
Mrs. Hattie 0. Franklin, widow
of Dr. Leo M. Franklin, who at
the time of his death was Rabbi
Emeritus of Temple Beth El, died
last Saturday at her home. 26 Ed-
ison Ave. She had been ill for a
number of years, but managed
courageously to carry on her ac-
tivities and to encourage her emi-
nent husband in his work during
.the monthS of his failing health.
She survived him by two months.
Funeral services were held at
2 p.m: Monday at Temple Beth
El. Dr. B. Benedict Glazer, Rab-
bi of Beth El, conducted the ser-
vice. Burial was in Beth El Sec-
tion of Woodmere Cemetery.
Born in Council Bluffs, Ia., 73
years ago, Mrs. Franklin met her
husband in Omaha when Rabbi
Franklin acquired the pulpit of
the Temple of which her father
was president. They settled in
Detroit in 1899.
During h e r lifetime, Mrs.
Franklin was active in many
movements. She was an organi-
zer of the Detroit Community

general meeting of the Women's
League for Sabbath Observance,
Dexter branch, at 12:30 p. m.
Monday, Nov. 15, at Bnai Moshe.
Drora Selesny will present a
program of Hebrew songs, accom-
panied by Shirley Subar Sklash.
Mrs. Joshua Sperka will be
chairman of the afternoon. The
public is invited.

Leo Glantz Is Elected
Chairman of Bnai Moshe
Young Married Group
Bnai Moshe's new "Young Mar-
ried Group" met Oct. 20 at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Glantz
and elected the following tem-
porary officers:
Leo Glantz, chairman; Myra
Gunsberg, assistant chairman;
Sylvia Kasoff, secretary; Alfred
Deutsch, treasurer.
Committee appointments were
made as follows:
Program policy, George Guns-
berg, chairman, Bernice Deutsch,
Gabriel Glantz, Helen Urbach;
membership, Richard Gunsberg,
chairman, Sylvia Glantz, Mrs.
Fred Weiss, Marion Glantz.
The next meeting will be held
Nov. 10 at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. George Gunsberg. Anyone

tion of a new swimming program
for parents and children. The
pool will be open for mixed
swimming for parents and chil-
dren every Sunday between 1:45
and 2:30 p.m. This program is
open to Center members only.

ing are invited to see Iz Rosen-
berg, membership director, for
information pertaining to mem-
bership rates. Ratner will assist
parents in teaching the children

CLUB, a Center sponsored group,
held installation of officers at
Bnai Moshe Synagogue Nov. 2.
Highlight of the Nov. 17 meet-
ing of the PASADENA STUDY
CLUB, a Center sponsored group,
will be a talk by Mrs. Frances
Gould Rosenberg on "How Par-
ents Can Help Their Children in
Choosing Their Vocation." The
group will meet at the home of
Mrs. Harry Feldman, 2923 Pasa-
dena at S p.m.
Feature of the SUNDAY NIGHT
CLUB barn dance Nov. 7 will
be Melvin Davey, official square
dance caller of the YWCA. The
evening's program will include
modern and old - fashioned.
