probably will when I get settled

UHS Children to Hold
Simchat Torah Program

Simchat Torah, festival of the
rejoicing in the law, will be cele-
brated by the children of the
United Hebrew Schools at serv-
ices in three branches, Rose Sittig
Cohen, Tuxedo. and Central High
School, at 3:30 p. m. Oct. 25th.
The celebration will include
mincha s e r v ic e s, appropriate
songs and Hakofas. All children
of the Jewish community are
invited.
At the - Rose Sittig Cohen
School, Solomon Kasdan, princi-
pal, will„ deliver a brief talks. Mrs.
B. Kriechmap is in charge of ar-
rangements and program. At
Central, N. Ruttenberg, prinCipal,
will lead the services. Mrs. A.
Roberg is in charge of singing.
This branch will hold its services
at Bnai David synagogue. ,
At the D. W. Simmons school,
A. Schachter will be in charge
of services. Drora Selesny will
lead the singing. A. J. Lachover,
principal, will address the chil-
dren.

HUC-JIR Has First
Sacred Music SChool

The Hebrew Union School of
Jewish sacred Music, the first in-
stitution in America for the train-
ing of cantors and other musical
functionaries of the synagogue,
opened October 16 in the New
York quarters of Hebrew Union
College—Jewish Institute of Re-
ligion, 40 W. 68th St.
Dr. Nelson Glueck, president of
the College-Institute, inducted the
first class. Prof. Curt Sachs of New
York University delivered the
major address, and there were
greetings from the Union of
American Hebrew Congregations,
repiesented by Rev. Dr. Daniel
L. Davis, director of the New
York Federation of Reform Syna-
gogues.
