Lipkin Acclaimed by .
Tanglewood Critics

Seymour Lipkin, Detroit pianist
who won the Rachmaninoff Fund
Prize, scored another triumph last
week as soloist with the Boston
Symphony Orchestra under the
baton of Dr. Serge Koussevitzky,
at the Tschaikovsky program at
the Tanglewood concert in Le-
nox, Mass. • .
Olin Downes wrote in the N. Y.
Times that "Lipkin had a re-
markable success, remarkable not
less for his musicianship, auth-
ority, and sense of symphonic
proportion than for his abundant
virtuosity and the fire with
Nvhich he projected the music."
Francis B. Perkins wrote in the
N. Y. Herald-Tribune that Lip-
kin's "playing gave evidence of
remarkable power employed with
taste and discretion."
Lipkin is the son of Dr. and
Mrs. Ezra Lipkin.
