zel. The selection was made by
members of the committee.
In addition to his work with
Federation, of which he was pres-
ident from 1941 to 1944, Srere is
an honorary director of the Jew-
ish Community Center and a
board member of the United Jew-
ish Charities, the Detroit Service
Group, Detroit Chapter of the
American Red Cross, Community
Chest of Metropolitan Detroit
and the Jewish Hospital Associa-
tion. He also served as vice-
chairman of the 1948 Allied Jew-
ish Campaign.
A native of Toledo. Srere has
been a resident of Detroit since
1892. He attended old Central
High School and was graduated
from the Detroit College of Law
in 1915. He is married and has
one daughter, Beth Elaine.
Other members of the execu-
tive committee are the Federation
officers, Julian H. Krolik, presi-
dent; Isidore Sobeloff, secretary;
Judge Theodore Levin, Leonard
N. Simons and David Wilkus,
vice presidents; Henry Wineman,
treasurer; and Louis Berry, Ir-
ving W. Blumberg, Mrs. Max R.
Frank, Abe Kasle, Max Osnos
and Ben L. Silberstein.

NEW YORK. (JTA)—The body
of Col. David Marcus, American
Jew who commanded the Israeli
forces in the Jerusalem area un-
til his death June 10, arrived at
LaGuardia Field June 30 where
it was met by an honor guard of
New York City policemen and a
group of honorary pallbearers.
The body was accOmpanied from
Tel Aviv by Moshe Dayam, Ha-
ganah advisor to the the British
