Plans for New Nursery School
Announced by Shaarey Zedek

Passover Services
AtTemple Beth El

Rabbi Morris Adler and Dr.
Leonard Sidlow, chairman -of
Shaarey Zedek's committee on
education, announce that a Nur-
sery School to be known as
Shaarey Zedek "Beth Ha Yeled"
will be opened Sept. 7.
A faculty composed of com-
petent teachers trained in nursery
care and child-psychology has
been engaged. Miss Betty Wald-
vogel, the head teacher, is a
graduate of the University of
Texas and of the Merril-Palmer
School. Mrs. Samuel Lehrman
will be associated with Miss
Waldvogel in the teaching pro-
gram.
The curriculum will be devoted
to training the children in whole-
some attitudes of co-operation,
responsibility, regularity and in-
itiative, as well as in basic Jewish
loyalties and practices. Arts and
crafts and music will likewise be
included in the program of the
school.
The school will meet week-day
mornings Monday through Fri-
day 9 a.m. to noon. In conjunc-
tion with the nursery for chil-
dren, seminars for parents will be

held throughout the school-year.
Children between the ages of 3
and '5 years are invited to enroll.
Information may be obtained
from Miss Rabinowitz in the
school office.

2500 traditional synagogues and
communities to participate in
the 50th anniversary convention
of the Union of Orthodox Con-
gregations, May 23-24,. at Ye-
shiva University, New York.

JNF Women Get Brodys'
Contribution of $1;000

Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Brody of
Miami Beach, Fla., former De-
troiters, made a contribution of
$1,000 to the annual drive of the
Ladies' Auxiliary of the Jewish
National Fund.
Their check was brought to De-
troit this week by Mrs. Meyer
Cooper, a leader in the Auxiliary.

Adler Lead Services

Congregation Bnai David, Elm-
hurst and 14th, announces that
Passover services will begin on
Friday with the evening service
at 7 p. m. All main services
throughout PassoVer will be
chanted by Cantor Hyman Adler
and his symphonic choir, under
the direction of Harry Seigel.
The services on the first day
of Pesach, Saturday, April 24,
will begin at 8:45 a. m. Rabbi
Joshua Sperka will preach the
sermon on "The Need for Seder."
On the second day of Pesach,
Sunday, April 25, services will
begin at 8:45 a. m. Rabbi Sperka
will preach on "The. Struggle for
Freedom." All are welcome.

There will be no late service
at Temple Beth El on Friday,
April 23, in order to give mem-
bers the opportunity to observe
a home seder. A Vesper Service .
will be held on Friday, April
23, from 6 to 6:30 p.m.
Services for the first day of
Passov. er will be held on Satur-
day, April 24, at 10:30 a.m. Dr.
B. Benedict Glazer Will preach
and the Temple quartet will
render the liturgical music.
T h e annual Congregational
Seder will be held on Saturday,
April 24, at 6:30 p.m., in the So-
cial Hall, with Dr. Glazer and
Rabbi Sidney Akselrad officiat-
ing.
Services for the last day of
Passover will be held on Fri-
day, April 30, at 10:30 a.m.
Rabbi Akselrad will preach.

Aged, supported by the Allied
Dr. Samuel Nirenstein, presi-
dent of the Union of Orthodox Jewish Campaig_I, offers them
