First AJC Junior
Division Formed
By Detroit Youths
The first youth division in the
United. States of the American
Jewish Congress was formed
March 4 under the auspices of
the Detroit Congress Section.
The youth group was organ-
ized in response to demands from
over 100 youngsters. Although
begun primarily by students at
'Central High School, member-
ship is open to any youth be-
tween 15 and - 23.
"The purpose of this division,"
according to Roger Nathan,
president, "is to promote the up-
building of the Jewish State in
Palestine, to guard the civil and
economic rights of minorities in
the United States and to dissem-
inate Jewish culture."
Other officers elected include
Newton Karp, vice-president;
Marvin Imber, treasurer; and
Eleanor Spinner, secretary; How-
ard Krohner, law and social
action chairman; Eliot Gerber,
publicity and membership chair-
man, and David Levine, program
chairman.
The next meeting of the Youth
Division will be held at 8 p. m.
Thursday, March 18, at the David
W. Simons Hebrew School, Tuxe-
do and Holinur. All young people
interested in the Congress pro-
gram are invited to attend.

JUST WORLDLY SPEAKING ,
The sky looked dim. There
were dark clouds hovering above
and it began to rain, lightly at
first, then with the crashing and
slashing of the lightning, the rain
began to cut. The thunder volu-
minously roared and echoed and
the soil was squidgy under one's
feet.
And all life upon earth began
to fear. Yes, even man! What
was happening? Another flood?
But it would soon be over, so
why worry?
The people forgot the rain and
their fear. They "went back to
lavish Parties, to 'their luxurious
living, to their expensive cloth-
ing. They didn't care about the
rain. After all, - they were on
the inside.
Their
squandering,
selfish
methods went on and, so the rain
continued. The river banks were
overflowing, and as fall led into
winter the rain turned to snow.
The people began to take note.
Now they . were being affected.
They had to shovel the snow
away before they could travel.
Snow stood in the light of pro-
gress! But the snow turned dark
and black, then froze solid.
The people were still squan-
dering, but they were worrying,
worrying about the cause! Had
they an active part in bringing
on the present condition? Now
they realized civilization could be
at fault.
But still the' ice lives on.

Men's Hebrew and Kindred As-
