Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Godsol of Muirland Ave. are returning from
a cruise in the West Indies.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Enggass will leave in a few days for a
visit in Palm Springs, Calif.
Mrs. Monroe Rosenfield and Mrs. Charlotte Redfield are visiting
in Los Angeles.
Mr. and Mrs. Amson. Tabor are now residing in their new
home at 40 Colorado Ave.
Mrs. I. S. Polozker and Mrs: Eugene Sloman are vacationing in
Coronado Beach, Calif.
Mr. and Mrs. Meyer Prentis of Balmoral Drive left on Feb. 24 for
a month's visit in New Orleans and Guatemala.
Mr. and Mrs. Saul Saulson of Whitmore Rd. returned from a
three-week visit in New York.
Mrs. Myron Steinberg of Webb Ave. is visiting in Los Angeles.
Mrs. Irving Goldman of 1920 Collingwood left for a two-month
stay in Miami Beach.
Mt'. and Mrs. Seymour Owens of North Cambride have returned
from a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Louis Fineman of W. Los Angeles,
and a fortnight in Palm Springs.
Mr. and Mrs. Allan Sloan of Santa Clara Ave. left for a month's
stay in Florida.
Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Landau of 'Longfellow Ave. were hosts
on Feb. 24 to members of the board of the United Hebrew Schools
and their wives in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Elazar. Mr. Elazar
is the newly appointed associate superintendent of the schools.

guests recently Mrs. Rubin's mother and sister, Mrs. Reuben Slandel

Mrs. Max Schayowitz of Fairfield Ave. is leaving for a visit in
Miami Beach and will be a guest at the Belmar Hotel.
Mr. and Mrs. Abe Glazer of Merton Rd. are visiting in Miami.
Mrs. I. D. Friedman, formerly of Detroit, visited with friends
and relatives for several weeks. Before returning to her home in
San Fcnando Valley, Calif., she will visit in Washington and New
Orleans.
Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Thal of Glynn Ct. are enroute to Santa
Barbara, Calif., for a month.
Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Fisher of 19184 Indiana held open house
fpr relatives and friends Feb. 2 in honor of their silver wedding
anniversary and to celebrate Mr. Fisher's 46th birthday.
Viola Shogan of Roselawn Ave. left Feb. 1 on an extended vaca-
tion to Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
Caroline Pritz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Pritz of Broad-
street, celebrated her 16th birthday last Saturday with a luncheon
for 25 guests.
Mr. and Mrs. M. Fairman and daughter, Sheila, are on a two-
month visit, with their sister and friends in Los Angeles.
Sherman Porvia of Kentucky Ave. has returned from Los
Angeles where he visited with his sister, Betty.
Mr. andMrs. Louis Goldberg"and daughter, Lynn. of• the Belcrest,
and their niece, Sylvia Gittleman of Washburn Ave., are vacationing
in Miami Beach.
Mrs. William I. Miller of 3786 Longfellow was honored at a birth-
day luncheon at the Book-Cadillac, given by the Thursday Night
Club.
Dr. and Mrs. Herbert Metz are at home in Detroit, not vacation-
ing in Florida, as was erroneously reported last week.

Manufacturer Gives 16,000
Cooking Utensils to SOS
A gift of 16,000 cooking uten-
sils, valued at approximately
$220,000, was announced by Mrs.
Isaac Gilman, national co-chair-
man of SOS (Supplies for Over-
seas Survivors) collection of the
Joint Distribution Committee.
The contribution, one of the
largest and most valuable gifts to
Europe's needy Jewish survivors
since the end of the war, was
made by the Lo-Heet Stainless
Steel Company of Los Angeles,
Calif. The donation followed a
special appeal for trade and in-

Julius Lev's subject in a talk
before DETROIT LODGE of Bnai
Brith at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday,
March 9, at 11529 Linwood. A
lifelong Detroiter, Lev spent the
years from 1939 to 1947 assisting
iri the rebuilding of the Holy
Land. A graduate of the Central
High and Detroit College, Lev
went to .Palestine as a builder
and eventually became a busi-
ness executive in that country.

Negev. Virtual Bastion
Against Arab Attack
NEW YORK, (JTA)—Jewish
defense works in the Negev have
reached such a stage that the
area has become a virtual bastion
against A r a b attack, David
Hacohen, a Palestine construc-
tion engineer who has just ar-
rived here,-declared. He will tour
the country on behalf of, the
United Jewish Appeal.

The alumni reunion- of the
United Hebrew Schools for grad-
uates from 1923 to 1936 has been
set for Purim evening, Thursday,
March 25, in the auditorium of
the Rose Sittig Cohen Bldg.
One of the features of the pro-
gram will be the "Alumni Me-
gillah," which will contain a
"Who's Who" of the alumni, with
stories and anecdotes of the life
of the members during their
studies at the United Hebrew
Schools. The "Megillah" is being
prepared by Ruben Isaacs and
Max Chomsky. Alumni members
are asked to forward their news
to this committee.
Also on the program will be
community singing led by Shir-
ley Subar (Sklash) of Windsor
and Rebecca Rappoport (Wilan-
sky) of London, Ont., alumni
members.
The committee organizing the
reunion includes Allan L. Wes-
ton, chairman; Dr. Israel Wiener,
program chairman; Max Chom-
sky and Ruben Isaacs, publicity
chairmen; Esther Charnas, secre-
tary; Bessie Kramer (Berris),
Freida Smolinsky (Leemon), Ar-
thur Migdal, and Dr; Frank Reis-
man.
