WASHINGTON, (JTA) — A
delegation of. Senators is being
formed to take up the question
of Palestine on the highest Ad-
ministration levels, it was learned
here, following a meeting of 70
Senators and Representatives
with Dr. Emanuel Neumann,
president of the Zionist Organi-
zation of America. There is rea-
son to believe that the Palestine
question will be discussed in the
near future at a meeting of the
Cabinet, Dr. Neumann said.
Dr. Neumann reiterated his
warning to the Senators and Con-
gressmen that the situation in
Palestine would deteriorate fur-
ther if it is not firmly checked
now, resulting in a much more
serious situation for the United
States. He urged on the Con-
gressional gathering the necessity
of these five steps: L Lifting of
the embargo; 2. Recognition of
Haganah as a defense force; 3.
Working out the problem of an
international police force through
the Security Council; 4. U. S.
leadership in the Security Coun-
cil in organizing such a force;
and 5. Diplomatic action through
regular diplomatic channels to
check aggression against Pales-
tine by the Arab states.
More Foster Homes
Asked by the MB
A plea for additional foster
homes for children in the Detroit
area is being made by the Jewish
Social Service Bureau, a Red
Feather service, Harold Silver,
executive director, said Thurs-
day.
"More foster homes are needed
because many foster parents are
leaving town or are unable to
continue boarding children for
other reasons," Silver said. "Also
there are more children needing
homes now, including refugee
children from displaced persons
camps who are being settled in
Detroit through efforts of the
U. S. Committee for the Care of
European Children."
The. Children's Department of
the Social Service Bureau pro-
vides between $43 and $65 per
month for the care of the children
and takes care of clothing, med-
ical and dental expenses. Social
workers help foster parents plan
for the children.
The children who desperately
need homes range in age from 10
days to 21 years. Some need fos-
ter homes for months and some
for years. None of the children
are for adoption.
Silver urged that all persons
who were interested in becoming
foster parents contact the Chil-
dren's Department of the Jewish
Social Service Bureau at 5737
Second, TR. 2-4080.
