secure a passport for overseas

Speaks

at JWV Rally

Mayor Eugene I. Van Antwerp
will be guest speaker at a public
rally of Detroit Post 135, Jewish
War Veterans, at 8:30 p. m. Mon-
day, Feb. 9, at the JWV head-
quarters, 8212 12th St.
The rally will honor the mem-
ories of the three United States'
residents' whose birthdays are ob-
served at this time of year. Re-
cently-elected members of the
Post will be inducted. Entertain-
ment and refreshments are plan-
ned: "

At Zion Medical School

NEW YORK — The name of
Moshe A. Pearlstein, the Brook-
lyn student at the Hebrew Uni-
versity who was killed in a battle
with Arab guerillas in Palestine
Jan. 16, will be inscribed on a
student's chair at the projected
H e b r e w University - Hadassah
Medical school in Jerusalem
Mrs. David de Sola Pool and
Philip G. Whitman, national co-
chairmen of the Hebrew Uni-
versity and Hadassah Medical
School Campaign, reported that
$1,000 has been contributed by an
anonymous admirer of the young
man, who was killed when a Hag-
anah defense force of which he
was a member was wiped out by
a band of Arabs.

SOS Needs 40,000 Layettes

NEW YORK—A spring cam-
paign for assembling 40,000 lay-
ettes for immediate shipment to
Jewish infants in Europe, was
announced by Mrs. Isaac Oilman,
national co-chairman of the SOS
(Supplies for Overseas Survi-
vors) collection of the Joint Dis-
tribution Committee:
