Mrs. Schermer Given

Affectionate Name

MRS. NATHAN B. SCHERMER
One of the most aptly-named
members of the Women's Divi-
sion of the Jewish Welfare Fede-
ration is Birdie Schermer—Mrs.
Nathan B. Schermer. In the
quickness of her movements at
work behind the scenes—both in
the, Allied Jewish Campaign and
Community Chest—and in her
cheerful good humor as she gives
long hours to her many communal
activities, she has convinced
many people that "Birdie" is an
apt nickname bestowed in af-
fection by her associates.
Mrs. Schermer's birthplace is
Harrisville, Mich., a northern
Michigan town so small that it
doesn't appear on the map. Her
parents moved to Highland Park
in time for her to enter kinder-
garten. After her graduation from
Highland Park High School, she
