ANNUAL AZA Stunt Nights
are indicative of the vast amount
of latent talent within the Bnai
Brith Youth Organization . . .
Each year the chapters work hard
on the offerings . . . and
from them emerge ability which
should be put into a wide variety
of use .. . BBYO as well as the
entire community .. • We mean
an overall presentation, combin-
ing the chapters into one big
production . . . It would fill the
rafters with audience . . . and
bring out the SRO sign with very
little trouble . . . One particular
Stunt Night performance which
still stands out in the minds of
those who saw it performed at
the Jewish Center in 1944 . . .
was a minstrel show given by
Chapter 309 (now Rex No. 11,
BBYM) . . . It remains one of
the finest amateur presentations
evr to be given in the community
. Those boys are still together
and have improved even more so
in ability ... AZA Chapter 661,
Seymour Sobole, placed first, this
year . . . and exhibited an amaz-
ingly fine talent for song writ-
ing and inspirational choral work
. . . Chapters 583 and 313 were
splendid in winning second and
third places, respectively.

A WOMAN MAY be said to have
learned the rudiments of driving
when the road begins to turn
when she does . . . but there are
instances when the car - really is
at fault . . . take it from Mrs.
Sylvia Steinman . ... who had
motor trouble, last week, and of
all places, stalled across from the
Fisher Bldg. . . . The traffic light
changed from red to green and
then back to red . . . but she still
couldn't get the car started . . .
Finally, the cop on duty came
over to, her and without bother-
ing to find out the trouble, asked,
"What's the matter, lady? Don't
we have colors to suit you?" The
motor turned over just as he fin-
ished his piece!

without rides will also be gettin'
some transportation out thar .. .
Regards from Shirley Jacoby in
California . . . who pens of the
"Golden , West" being so terrific
that everyone should move out
here" ... (If nothing else, 'twould
leave a lot of empty apartments
here abouts . . . with nobody to
move into them . . . and wouldn't
that be something!) . • . Zionist
Chapter One will give the first
SOS affair in the community,
Dec. 4, with a fashion show for

CHILDREN'S DEPT. . . . Prize
statement of the week comes
from the tiny lips of 5-year-old
Sherrill Lenhoff, who described
her first ride M an elevator, thus-
ly . . . "We got into a. little room
and the upstairs came down."
•
THE PIANO WHICH elegant-
ly stands in the center of his
eatery is there for a reason, says
Handsome Hy. Horenstein, boss-
man of the Dexter Restaurant-
Delicatessen- . . . •"Anybody who
suddenly feels an urge to play
can go right on up and do so.
In fact, if it helps their appetite
any, I'll do a dance for them!"
. . . Hy is now sole owner of the
place and being a lover of piano
music is added incentive to his
invitation to key-tickling custom-
ers . But don't let him get up
there! ... To Hy, a sharp is noth-
ing more than what his knives
should be . . . and a flat is what
he hopes you aren't when it
comes time to pay the bill.

Philadelphia, was here on busi-
ness last week, with cute wife,
Jolene . . . and helped Dorothy
Strohl celebrate her (?) birthday

doing so! . . . Sports man Dave

STORY DEPT. . . . Al Rosen-
berg, the catering man, met a
friend last week . . . insisted he
come to dinner . . . and walked
in on his unsuspecting w. ife,
Sarah, without even calling . . .
She took him aside, told of not
having extra portions but- agreed
that they could get along if -the
guest wasn't asked to have more
. . . But at the diner table, Al
pressed their visitor to refill his
plate . . . Sarah looked distressed
. . . The friend declined . .. Al
insisted . • . Sarah looked in
agony . . . and the guest firmly
refused to have any brought in
from the kitchen . . . Later, when
they were alone, Sarah asked Al
how he could urge the fellow on
after she had explained about
there not being enough . . He
said he forgot all about it . . .
and Sarah then asked why he
thought she was kicking him un-
der - the table .. . Al took a deep
swallow, sat on the nearest chair,
and said, "You weren't kicking
me!"

Treidele's Wedding' to Be Staged
Next Tuesday Featuring Miss Oisher
Abraham Littman, who has
managed the Yiddish Theater in
Detroit for more than 25 years,
stated this week that his next
attraction here, at the Scottish
Rite Cathedral of the Masonic
Temple, next Tuesday evening,
Nov. 25, is one of the most out-
standing productions ever to be
brought to this city.
Freidele Oisher, sister of Can-
tor Moishe Oisher, the world re-
nowned cantor, will be in the
star role in the two-act musical
comedy—"Freidele's Wedding."
Mr. Littman states that the
production, written by Louis
Freeman, and the music, by the
prominent composer, Sholem Se-
cunda, combine to assure a most.,
entertaining . evening.
Miss Oisher's singing, he says,
will thrill the Detroit audience.
Co-starring with Miss Oisher
in "Freidele's Wedding" are:
Abraham Lack, comedian-sing-
er; Leon Schachter, Leon Charaz,
Frances Weintraub, Rosetta Yag-
ger, Max :Friedlander, together
with the dancing-singing team of
Sam and Sally Josephson.
Mr. Littman stated that he was
moved to bring this play to De-
troit because of the sensational
voice and acting of the star.
