WASTING HUMAN LIVES
BEHIND BARBED WIRE

ayor Edward J.
Jeffries Says:

"President Truman
and Senator Fergu-
son are Right!

"We Should Admit
the Displaced Per-
sons in Europe to
United States.

"The victims of religious persecution and racial discrimination should be given a
chance to start life anew in the New World the same as our forefathers did. The vic-
tims of Nazi and Communist tyranny would make excellent citizens who would be in
the forefront in defending America against totalitarian ideas.

"These forsaken people are needed in America. Among them are the more in
telligent and spirited people of Europe. They include thousands of highly -"skilled
workers and technicians who are urgently needed by us. Some of the finest academi-
cians and professors are languishing in DP camps when they could be here helping
inspire our youth with their faith in Democracy and their opposition to the vicious
dictatorships.

"These new Americans would be hand picked and chosen for their fitness to live
in this traditional land of freedom. The few who might be of a subversive nature
can be weeded out.

such as sewers, housing. rec-
reation, streets and alleys
are very iinportant in his
program.

"You vote for City
Improvements when
you vote for Miricmi"

"America must open up her heart and her doors to those who have suffered be-
cause they believe in God and in the ten commandments. We need these _modern
Crusaders for the rights of Man and for the Freedom to Worship. These unfortunates
are suffering behind barbed wire because they fought against those who would de-
stroy us and our freedom."

LEND YOUR HAND TO SUPPORT PRESIDENT TRUMAN AND
SENATOR FERGUSON IN THEIR CAMPAIGN. WRITE THEM.

A substantial part of the DP's problem can be solved by opening up, increased Jewish
immigration to talestine. Such a program under the direction of the United Nations should be
supported by every thinking American.

Our imMigration laws should be amended to provide the proper safeguards to screen out
those who do not fit in with our form of government and our way of life.

Congress convenes on November 17. Write your Congressman asking for amendment of
present immigration laws to allow DP immigratiOn.
