Ex-Marine's Flower Shop
Features Reminder Service
"It's our pleasure to help you
remember" is the slogan of the
new flower shop opened by Harry
Lupi, recently-discharged United
States Marine, at 10837 Puritan.
As an aid to customers, Lupi
has initiated a personal reminder
service, in which customers are
invited to file their list of birth-
days, anniversaries and other
important dates with the florist.
He, in turn, will contact custom-
ers shortly before each of those
dates, and will send flowers upon
request.

Unveilings
Mrs. Rachel Zwig announces
the unveiling of a monument
over the grave of her late hus-
band, Jacob Zwig, at 1 p. m. Sun-
day, July 27, at Machpelah Cem-
etery. Rabbi Leizer Levin will
officiate. Relatives and friends
are invited to attend the serv-
ice.

Weinstein announce the unveiling
of a monument in her memory
At 12 noon Sunday, Aug. 3, at
Oakview Cemetery in Royal Oak.
Friends and relatives are invited
to attend the service.
Dr. Rubin Ryvkin, who died
recently of a heart attack, was
known as the "Good Physician"
to the residents of Berlin, a
small community in upstate New
York.
A Czechoslovakian refugee,
from Nazi tyranny, Dr. llyvkin
took up work in the rural corn-
hlunity with the help of the
Physicians' Committee of United
Service for New America, whose
work is supported by the $170,-
000,000 United Jewish Appeal
for 1947.
By his devoted service, and his
application of - the art" as well
as "the science" of medicine, Dr.
Ryvkin won the understanding
and appreciation of the entire
community. Upon his death he
was eulogized in a letter from
one of his colleagues, Dr. James
J. Rainey, published in the Troy,
N. Y., Times Record.

cated at the Park Plaza Hotel,

Monosson, prominent Boston
Jewish leader and chairman of
the national rainwear division of
the Unite Jewish Appeal, re--;
ported here upon his return from
Cyprus that the 16,000 ewish
refugees detained on that island
are alive and healthy because of
the UJA.
One of the few American Jew-
ish leaders permitted to visit the
Mediterranean detention center,
Monosson said that the homeless
Jews
"are healthy and seem well
J
cared for but all are eager to I
leave the barbed wire atmosphere
and to get to Palestine as soon as
possible." Monosson said he was
particularly impressed with the
"outstanding" health and child
care program conducted on
Cyprus by the JDC.

For Change in Calendar
LONDON. (JTA).L.The World
Agudas Israel executive has sub-
mitted a memorandum to the
United Nations urging the Eco-
nomic and Social Council to re-
ject a proposal for reforming the
calendar in such fashion that the
Sabbath and Holy Days would not
be celebrated on the same day of
the week each year.
