Scholarship Funds are Available
For Promising Jewish Students

Sufficient scholarship funds
are available in Detroit at this
time so that no promising Jew-
ish person needs to forego high
school, trade or college educa-
tion because he has insufficient
money to cover tuition, books,
or incidental expenses, according
to a survey recently completed
by the Subcommittee on Scholar-
ship -Service, Mrs. Benjamin E.

Hapoels' Strength on U.S. Soccer Tour
Over-Publicized; Drop Final Game

Walked Off Field

When the Hapoels walked off
the field and refused to finish
their recent game in San Fran-
cisco against an all-star western
team the boys back east suppos-
edly decided to teach the Jewish
stars a lesson. Whether the de-
feat...piled on the Hapoels in their
final encounter was a spiteful one
is highly problematical, however.
In all they won 3, lost 2, and
tied 4.
The truth is the Hapoel eleven
is an average team in ability. As
a result of the reams and reams
of copy that were written about
the invaders, people were led to
believe they were invincible and
automatically placed them in the
same class with the Hakoah team
which came over from Vienna,
Austria in 1926. Actually the Ha-
koahs were a finished all-star ag-
gregation while the Hapoel squad

players which has yet to reach
its peak.

money in order to start construc-

to this country was a costly one
but a very successful one. The
experience garnered on the cur-
rent tour will stand them in good
stead on succeeding junkets.

BRUSSELS, (JTA)—The Brus-
sels Civil Tribunal, in a prece-
dent-making case, has ordered
the return to her relatives of a
Jewish child who was hidden by
non-Jews during the war.
The test case was brought by
the relatives of Denise Zynger,
whose parents have disappeared.
The judge ruled that "it is ex-

JERUSALEM, (JTA)—Form
Magistrate Bernard A. Rosen
Blatt of New York may appeal
to the Privy Council, Britain's
highest appellate court, agains
a decision of the Palestine Su-
preme Court upholding the Pales-
tine Government's right to pro-
hibit his acquiring land in a sec-
tion of the country barred to
Jewish purchasers.
The suit was brought by Ros-
enblatt, one-time president of the
American Palestine Foundation
Fund, as a test case of the rights
of American Jewish citizens to
buy land despite the restrictions.
He claimed that the Palestine
Mandate and a subsequent treaty
between the United States and
Britain guaranteed him against
discrimination. Although ruling
against him, Chief Justice Will-
iam Fitzgerald admitted that he
might have a good case before
an international tribunal.
