The .Tewish women of Detroit have long been noted for their Yiddish stage and on the radio,
devotion to the needs of their . fellowmen. In their wholehearted
support of the 1947 Allied Jewish Caampaign, they have once again
given a stirring _demonstration of the -communal awareness and
social initiative which earn them the rightful respect of the rest
of the community.
Their , contributions, given from their household allowances,
or personal funds, were in many cases made at great sacrifice, be-
cause Jewish wives and mothers have realized that 1947 is a year
of decision for Jews throughout the world.
This year the crisis in the lives of the Jewish survivors has
brought more than 1,500 women into the drive, as chairmen, captains
and workers. New needs brought new challenges and the Women's
Division redoubled all past efforts in iaising a sum larger than
drive.

Perhaps no other group is more in sympathy with the cries of
170,000. Jewish child survivors in Europe. More than 35,000 of

These children are the pride - and the hope of Judaism. They can
be the core of a healthy and creative generation which will re-
kindle Jewish life -in the wake of the greatest tragedy in modern
history. Their fate is in the hands of this community, whose con-

Besides carrying complete data
