land, was awarded the Member

with the famous Jewish Brigade.
His unit took part in the first
siege of Tobruk, was incorporated
into the Jewish Brigade in No-
vember, 1944, and was under
Major Aron's leadership for four
years in the western desert,
Malta and Italy.
In 1928 Major Aron, at the re-
quest of Chaim Weizmann, came
to London to serve as assistant
political secretary to the Zionist
Organization and the Jewish
Agency. In 1937, under the au-
thorization of General Wavell, he
negotiated wtih the London War
Office concerning plans for the

31 years dean of Yeshiva College
Chasam Sofer in Jerusalem, a
former Safed City Councilor and
a leader in Palestine Bnai Brith
and Mizrachi, who recently ar-
rived in this country, came to
Detroit this week in the interests
of the United Aged Home of
Jerusalem.

New York is president of the
American committee of the
United Aged Home of Jerusalem
which has the endorsement of
American Jews belonging to all
shades of thought.

cators heard two scholarly dis-
courses on Jewish theology and
preaching techniques at the an-
nual Institute on Judaism at
Temple Beth El last week.
Dr. Bernard J. Bamberger of
West End Synagogue in New
York addressed the morning ses-
sion on "The God of Israel: Faith
and Creed in Modern Judaism."
At the afternoon meeting Dr.
Abraham J. Feldman of Temple
Beth Israel in Hartford. Conn.,
spoke on "The Bible in Modern
Jewish Preaching."
A luncheon session and discus-
sions following the lectures com-
pleted the Institute.

be held at the Northwest Hebrew
Congregation at 9 a.m. Saturday,
April 26.
