With close to $50,000 already
raised at the end of two weeks
campaigning towards the $175,-
000 goal of the 1947 Detroit His-
tadrut campaign, M. L. Schaver,
honorary chairman of the drive
who presided at last Thursday's-
rally, urged workers to accelerate
the tempo of their work.
Mr. Schaver praised the work
of those solicitors and divisions
through whose efforts twice as
much money has been brought
in this year as against the same
period.last year. He pointed out
that the greater amount also
represented substantially higher
individual contributions a n d
stated that -achievements thus far
should spur workers to intensify
their efforts because the $175,000
goal could not be achieved with-
out the team work of all workers
and organizations.

French Admit Jewish Refugees
Evading British Blockade
PARIS—Authoritative French sources here and in
Marseilles are quoted as stating they are cognizant of
an increasing traffic of Mediterranean vessels which are
running the British blockade with European refugees
who are on the way to Palestine.
These sources stated as many as 70 sailing craft,
yachts, steamers and motorboats, chartered for this
purpose, have appeared off the Marseille-Spezia region
in the Mediterranean, having put in at Marseille for
fueling and supplies.
This is considered "regular" procedure by the
French who have not interfered with the traffic. The
entire issue is considered a British problem here.

a/ PRE AT LOw price levels
...and here's why
Our prices have always been moderate and our volume of sales hes always
been great. As a result we were not confronted with the `need for "reducing"
highly inflated price tickets in en intensive January sale. Consequently this
IS NOT a clearance .. . but a selling of valuable, newly made fashions at
diopped prices reflecting lowered skin costs and economies effected in our
four-fold capacity as raw skin buyer . .. style
creator . . . wholesaler and retailer. These fur
fashions are made of the newer, softer, finer
fresher pelts obtained at the recent raw skin
markets. We urge you to select a truly NEW
fur at the lowest of the present low price levels.
We believe our current prices are the lowest that
will be quoted on luxury furs for a long time to
come.
