Mr. and Mrs. Ellis E. Goldberg of Chicago Blvd., entertained
35 guests at Northwood Inn on Jan. 1, celebrating their silver
wedding anniversary.
Esther Kawa, who was married to Seymour Tarnoff on Dec. 1,
was feted before her marriage at a luncheon by Mrs. Tony Lebovitz
of River Rouge at the Book Cadillac Hotel; a shower by Mrs. Hyman
L. Stern of Youngstown, Ohio, at Rosenberg's; a luncheon by the
Central High Schobl office staff at Canterbury House; a shower by
Mesdames Ben Shifman, Harry Shifman, and William Utley at the
Lee Plaza; a luncheon by Mrs. Henry J. Greener; a dinner for the
bride and bridegroom by Mr. and Mrs. Louis Wolfe of River Rouge
• at Northwood. Inn; a pantry and gadget shower by Mrs. Irving
Posner at her home; a dinner by her sorority, Alpha Beta Tau, at
Lellis; a tea by Mrs. David Fidler of River Rouge and Mrs. Charles
Ornstein at the home of Mrs. Hyman Nathan.
Celia Schmier, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Abe Schmier. of Sher-
bourne Rd., has returned from a holiday visit in Cincinnati,
where she was the house guest of Carol Levy, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Mark Levy.
Mrs. Paul Tweedy and Mrs. Louis Fleischacker are house guests
of Mr. and Mrs. Iry Fleischaker (Theda Nadell) and Mrs. Marion
Nadell of Los Angeles. Both intend to remain there the balance of
the season. In their honor, a cocktail party was given on Sunday
for 75• guests.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry H. Shapero of Collingwood Ave. have re-
turned from a visit in New York.
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Kraska of Bay City spent a week at the
Belmont Plaza Hotel in New York, where they attended the wedding
of their cousins. Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Goldman of Detroit, and a con-
firmation party honoring Hyman Kurzman of the Bronx.
An open house honoring the 25th wedding anniversary of Mr.
and Mrs. Irvin A. Lawton of 2730 Burlingame will be held at their
home from 3 to 8 p. m. Jan. 26. No cards. Mr. Lawton is
principal of the Carmel Hebrew School. In observance of their
anniversary the school has inscribed the names of Mr. and Mrs.
Lawton in the Golden Book of the Jewish National Fund and has
planted 150 trees in Palestine.
Mrs. Michell Sehlain and her daughter, Leona, of Parkside Ave.,
have returned from a visit to Montreal.
Lt. (j.g.) and Mrs. Norman P. Greenblatt have returned to Mor-
rison Field, Palm Beach, Fla.. after spending a 30-day leave with their
parents. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry J. Greenblatt of Fairfield Ave. Lt. Green-
blatt was stationed as a dentist with the U. S. Navy in San Francisco
for the past 18 months.
Miss Helen Katz of Taylor Ave. has returned from a month's
visit in California where she was the guest of her brother and sister-
in-law. Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Katz of Los Angeles.
Perry Phillips. who is attending Michigan State College, spent
the holiday vacation with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Phillips
of 2722 Calvert.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sloman and son have moved from War-
rington Dr. to their new home on Fairfield Ave.
Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Keats. of Minden Ave.. and sons, David
and Neal, have returned from a 10-day vacation in New York City.
Mrs. David H. Yaffe and daughters, Ronette and Lenore, of
Beaconsfield Rd., have just returned from a 10-day vacation in
New York City.

charged from the Marine Corps,
is a sophomore at the University
of Michigan, where Mr. Frein will
receive a Bachelor of Arts in
journalism in June. He spent
three years in the Army Air
Forces. The wedding will take
place Feb. 1, at thy Wilshire
Hotel.

The bride wore a gown of can-
dlelight satin fashioned with a
tight-fitting bodice and off-the-
shoulder neckline offset by a
single strand of pearls.
Mrs. Belle Weiss was matron-
of-honor, and bridesmaids were
Mrs. Ethel Klavansky, Mrs. Faye
Green and Mrs. Frances Rubin.
Janice Weiss was junior brides-
maid.
Seymour Weiss served as best
man. Bill and Al Reifler, brothers
of the bride, and Leonard Klav-
ansky were ushers, with Harvey
Weiss and Milton Rubin as jun-
ior ushers.
A dinner and reception fol-
lowed the ceremony. After hon-
eymooning in Chicago, the young
couple will make their home at
1956 Pingree.
Out-of-town guests at the wed-

of Baltimore, Mr. and Mrs. 'Sam
