Tell Students' Troth
ACTIVITIES IN SOCIETY
Sidney Fishman of Webb Ave. is spending a few weeks visiting
in Los Angeles; San Diego and Tucson, Ariz.
Miss Theodora Barsky, daughter of the Louis Barsky's of Phila-
delphia Ave., is a guest of the Bel Mar Hotel at Miami Beach, Fla.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Granow and daughters and their sister ;
Mass June Rothenberg, formerly of Stoepel Ave., now are residing in
their new home at 18091 Washburn Ave.
Bride-elect Zelma Albert has been entertained extensively prior
to her wedding January 12, to Phillip Horwitz. Miss Gertrude Kutzen,
Mrs. Robert Rafelson, and Mrs. Sidney Hiller were hostesses at a
luncheon and personal shower. A luncheon and personal shower
were given by Miss Libby Miller and Miss Shirley Simons at the
Women's League Building in Ann Arbor. Mrs. Max Schwartz, Mrs.
Sam Seppen, and Mrs. Irving Kahn were hostesses at.a dinner and
miscellaneous shower given at Rosenberg's Catering. A luncheon
was given in the Terrace Room by Mrs. Harold Kutzen and Miss
Florence Kutzen. A dinner and miscellaneous shower were hostessed
by Mrs. Louis Robinson, Mrs. Dave Blanke, Mrs. Harry Freedman,
and Mrs. Harry Blatnikoff at the King Fong Cafe. Mrs. Jack Horwitz
entertained with a luncheon and personal shower at Frame's. Mrs.
Walter Hoffman completed the festivities for the bride-elect with a
spinster tea given at her home.
Honoring Florine M. Franklin, whose marriage to Harold Roth-
enberg took place Dec. 22, the following events took place: Mrs..
M. Hasnas and Mrs. B. Rothenberg gave a miscellaneous shower at
the Abington Hotel; Mrs. L. Weingarden gave a dinner at 18257
Ohio: Mrs. K. Merkowitz gave a shower at Rotunda Inn, Pine Lake;
Miss Lois Landsberg gave a brunch at her home on Greenlawn; Mrs.
J. Landsberg gave a shower at her home, 17344 Greenlawn.
Mr. and Mrs. Mayer Traub of East London. South Africa, have
been touring-the United States since their arrival in October. They
were recently the guests of their aunt and uncle, the Rev. and Mrs.
Joseph Goodman of Blaine Ave.
Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Levenberg of Fairfield Ave. will be at home
from 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, in honor of their 25th wedding
anniversary. No cards.
Mrs. David B. Werbe was hostess at a luncheon Jan_ 4 at the
Women's City Club honoring Marian Helene Goodman, bride-elect.
Doris Moss was hostess at a dinner Jan. 7 at the Book-Casino fol-
lowed by a theater party in Miss Goodman's honor.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Phillips of 2722 Calvert left Sunday for
St Petersburg. Florida, which they will spend the winter months.
Mr. and Mrs. Julian L. Zemon of Wildemere had as their guests
Mrs. Zemon's brother-in-law and sister. Mr. and Mrs. David Seidman
and their children. Mr. and Mrs. Myron Piker of New York. They
attended the Piker-Enggass wedding last Sunday.
Mrs. Irving Goldman of Muirland Ave. left last Saturday for
New York to spend a week with Mr. Goldman's parents.-
Mrs. Herman Finsterwald of Longfellow Ave. left for Memphis.
where she will spend the winter with her son-in-law and daughter,
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dreifuss.
Mrs. Robert Harwill of LaSalle Blvd. has returned from a visit
with her children. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Morrison, in Cleveland, and
Mr. and Mrs. Milton Marwil in Philadelphia.
Mrs. Celia Burke of New York is spending a fortnight with Mr.
and Mrs. John A. Heavenrich of Longfellow Ave.
Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Gordon have moved from Parkside Ave.
to the Whittier.
Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Wallace of Canterbury Rd. are spending a
week in New York.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Phillips of Calvert Ave. left last Sunday
for Chicago. They will go to Miami Beach for a few weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Weiss of Warrington Dr. are spending a
few weeks in Miami Beach.
Dr. Harry Stocker of Devonshire Dr. is spending a fortnight in
Corpus Christie. Tex.
Miss Esther Fisher of Atkinson Ave. is planning to leave the
middle of January for LaMesa and Los Angeles where she will spend
the winter months.
Mr. and Mrs. Nate Schlafer of Whitmore Rd., Mr. and Mrs. David
Emerman of Shrewsbury Rd. and Mr. and Mrs. Barney Keywell also
of Shrewsbury Rd. are spending a week in New York.
Mr. and Mrs. Julius Gunsberg of Elmhurst Ave. have returned
from a visit in Miami Beach.
Dr. Harry Ruskin of Normandy Ave. is spending 10 days in
Miami Beach.
Mrs. Julius Green and her daughter, Roslyn, of Muirland Ave.
have returned from a week in New York. Roslyn will matriculate at
a college in Hemstead, L. L
Dr. and Mrs. Joseph Blier of Muirland Ave. have returned from
Martinsville, Ind.
Mrs. David Miller of Cherrylawn Ave. has returned from Miami
Beach.
Mrs. Elizabeth Krell Schlafer of Chicago Blvd. left Monday for
Chicago to spend a fortnight with her son-in-law and daughter, Dr.
and Mrs. Shayel Scheinberg, and her brother. Ben Krell.
On the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary, Mr. and Mrs
Louis Schlussel of West Chicago, were hosts to their family and a
group of friends at a dinner at Shaarey Zedek last Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Feldman of Mt. Clemens have returned from
Miami Beach.
Mr.' and Mrs. Irving Swaab of Glendale Ave. are visiting in
Miami Beach.
Bomb British Troop Train
Enroute To Palestine
CAIRO, (JTA) — Three bombs
were thrown at a train carrying
Britsh troops to Palestine at a
point eight miles north of Cairo,
Jan. 4. Early reports state eleven
soldiers were wounded, three
seriously.
Career Group Arranges
Co-Ed Program Jan. 23

of Jewish Women are making
plans for their co-ed evening
scheduled for 8:30 p. m. Thurs-
day, Jan. 23, in the auditorium
of the Jewish Community Center.
Dr. Robert Drews, physician,
lecturer and author, will talk on
"Man and Woman Historically
and Hysterically." A question and
answer period will follow.
The hospitality c o m m i t t e e,
headed by Bluma Nagler and
Pearl Shanbon, is arranging to
have tables set up in cabaret
fashion for the refreshments and
dancing to band music which
will complete the evening's enter-
tainment.
