Federation Women to Probe
Problems of Jewish. Youth

Problems of Jewish children and the role of Jewish social
service agencies in solving these problems will be the central
theme of "Accent on Youth" to be presented by the Women's
Division of the Jewish Welfare Federation, Thursday, Jan. 30
at Hotel Statler.
The day's discussions will take place at four panel meet-
ings beginning at 10:30 a. m. and

Due to the New Year holiday,
a special early deadline has been
set for next Friday's issue of the
Jewish News. All copy must be
at the office by noon Monday,

Announcement is made of the
engagement of Marilyn Gross-
light to Edward M. Blumberg,
son of Mrs. Oscar Blumberg of
Glynn Ct. and the late Mr. Blum-
berg. The bride-elect is the
daughter of Mrs. George Blum-
enthal of Second Blvd.,' and Sher-
man Grosslight of Boston Blvd.
Miss Grosslight attended the Uni-
versity of Michigan. The couple
plan a June wedding.

Mr. and Mrs. Abraham L. Gold-
man of New York announces the
engagement of their daughter,
Elka, to Leonard Nudelman, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Nudel-
man of New York. The wedding
will take place in June.

the engagement of their daugh-
ter, Bertha, to Elliott M. Silver,

2492 Glendale announce the en-
gagement of their daughter, Su-
zette Rita, to Morris M. Welt-
man, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Welt-
man of Cleveland. The bride-
groom-elect served three years in
the U. S. Army and is now attend-
ing the University of California
at Los Angeles. Miss Weiss is now
attending Los Angeles City Col-
lege and will join her fiancee at
UCLA next semester.

Canadian Legion Plans
New Year's Eve Affair

Will Benefit War Orphans

A program is planned for New
Year's Eve by the Jewish Branch
362, Canadian Legion, at the
Shaar Hashomayim auditorium,
corner Charles and Goyea in
Windsor.
P.eservations are still being
taken for the festivities, which
will include a 9-course strictly
kosher dinner, floor show, favors
and dancing to the music of Jack
Burrows and his band. Admission
is $6 per person.
Henry Shanfleld is chairman of

Name Jerusalem Street
For Leader of Agudah

JERUSALEM, (JTA)—A street
in the Sanhedrian quarter of Jer-
usalem renamed in honor of the
late Rabbi Moshe Blau, former
leader of the Agudas Israel. The
street is in an area where a large
Agudah housing project is near-
ing completion.

Describes Europeans' Plight
Madame Spanjaard, an eye-
witness of Nazi atrocities and a
survivor of the Bergen-Belsen
murder camp, is making a special
trip to Detroit to describe the
plight of European Jewish chil-
dren. She knows first hand the
consequences of the past years,
for she and her family were pris-
oners of the Nazis, and her hus-

Brandeis U. Receives
$500,000 Contributions

NEW YORK, (JTA)—Gifts and
pledges of $508,000 to Brandeis
University, America's first secu-
lar educational institution under
Jewish auspices, were reported
by Julius Silver, treasurer of Al-
bert Einstein Foundation, spon-
soring body of the university.
Mr. Silver made public three
gifts to the foundation totaling
$255,000. $105,000 by Mr. and
Mrs. Allen L. Goldfine of New
York City; $100,000 by Israel
Rogosin of New York City; and
$50,000 by A. Shapiro of Boston.
