"I fully understand how you
feel about the plight of displaced
persons in Europe and the neces-

No Hindrance Exists
To Jewish Emigration

who asserted that the number of
ration cards distributed in Pales-
tine indicate that the Jewish
population of Palestine is consid-
erably larger than 580,000 as an-

passpOrt system for displaced per-
sons through the organization of
the United Nations. While these
special passports are not needed
for ordinary immigration pur-
poses, they will serve a most
wholesome and helpful purpose
by way of authentic identification
for all other purposes.
"You .particularly raise the
question of a broader interpreta-
tion of the present immigration
laws to permit the U. S. to join
in some degree of immediate hos-
pitality to these displaced per-
sons. I agree with your general
purpose. I want to withhold any
definite, detailed commitment
until I have had an opportunity
to examine into the details of the
proposition in Washington.
I
promise to do this in the very
near future and I think the gen-
' eral tenure of this letter will
amply assure you of my complete
sympathy with your objectives
and with my desire to be helpful
in any way I can."
Congressman Bradley wrote:
"I feel very keenly on this sub-
ject and my general thought is
that I personally welcome any-
one, anytime, to come to Amer-
ica, who is willing to believe in
American ideals and the things
that made this country great."

Men of Justice: Speak
Out, and Delay Not
By HARRY KOVNER
Oh. isn't there somewhere a man of
Justice. a sage
To call a halt to the Palestinian out-
rage!
Isn't there in this civilized world one
nation
To feel the weight of moral obligations!
Isn't there one of the fifty-two signa-
tory states
To force England to fulfill the terms of
the mandate!
A victorious England in a mad desire
To expand the borders of her vast
empire
Is waging war against a heap of living
skeletons
Who by a miracle escaped the clutches
of the Huns.
England. monarch of our jungle civi-
lization.
Defies her treaty with the Jews and all
nations
And like Huns descended on the prom-
ised land
(Promised by a power greater than
England)
And like ruthless bandits ready to kill
All who dare to stand up against their
ill will.
She holds against all law, by right of
might
The land which is Jewish by reason of
right.
Oh, how wicked to rob a homeless race
Of their abode and a secure refuge
place,
And to trample all covenants with a
brazen face
For the sake of oil and a military base.
0 men of justice and courage, speak
out, delay not! .
Tell the world that England's action
is the b/v•kest blot
Of her career, that if treaties are null
and void.
The ruling people of today will be
destroyed
And this earth will remain a valley of
tears and sorrow
With no immediate outlook for a
brighter tomorrow.
