THIS NEW ENGINE CLEAN UP PROGRAM MAY BE
THE ONE THING THAT WILL KEEP IT GOING.
While new cars are far from plentiful, these days, we are beginning to see them, and that means
your old one is nearing the close of its long pull.
To The Entire
Jewish
But this final stretch can be the hardest. Chances are the engine is dirty. Sticky deposits, long
accumulating in that old engine, may suddenly clog the oiling system—with disastrous results.

NEW YORK, (JPS, Palcor)—"I
have become accustomed to sep-
arations . . . We anticipate this
before we took the marriage vows,"
were the words spoken by a bride
of two months whose young hus-
band had just been sentenced to
10 years in prison for helping vfsa-
less Jewish refugees land in Pales-
tine, J. L. Teller writes in a series
of sketches of "Palestinians", ap-
pearing in the September issue of
the American Mercury magazine.
"This young man's wife .
came to Palestine after participat-
ing the rebellion of the Bialystok
ghetto and in the partisan war-
fare of the swamps," Mr. Teller
writes. "We like to think of our-
selves as the new Jews. a tribe
dedicated to the creation of a new
people. saying to the world "thank
you for offering to shed our blood:
we shall shed it ourselves and our-
selves determine the time, the
place and the cause," the girl said.
"This determination of ours in-
volves constant peril to life but
prison is the worst of these perils,
for to live and be useless is a curse
next to none. It is for this I weep
and not for the separation . . ."
