THE
Jewish Youth, Your Attention!
By SARA PHILKA
Jewish Youth, are you listening
To the rumble of thunder
Sounding faintly in the far-off wilderness
Of an almost forgotten land,
Reminiscent of a wandering people
And echoing of an almost forgotten faith—
A Jewish faith?
Be quick—stop what you are doing and listen!
If you haven't the time, then take the time.
But be quick.
The matter at hand is urgent; the time for action is now.
You have everything to gain if you listen
And everything to lose if you don't.
Rise up, Oh Youth! Rise up!
There's a storm brewing and it's heading
North and south, east and west,
Slowly—surely—threatening—frightening!
A dangerous menace,
Reaching with a million arms,
Ready to crush you in its fold.
Rise up, Oh Youth! Rise up!
Your future as a Jew is at stake
And the future of Judaism is in your hands.
Your deeds, your words and your faith
Can erect the tower of strength
That will weather the wind, the rain
And the threatening storm that is yet to come-
Unless—but wait!
Perhaps there is hope.
Listen closely, youth!
Listen to the wind and the echoing voices
Crying out for a miracle of deliverance—
A miracle of deliverance—and why can't we, yes—
Let us be their miracle and our own,
Let us sip the glory of our heritage,
And live as Jews.
In thought—in tradition—and in spirit.
Let us take an oath—here and now,
And bear allegiance to our faith.
Let us reap from the past,
A determined will for the present
For a greater and more glorious future.
For ourselves!
For our children!
For Israel!
Let us prepare for the storm!
And should it break, if we prepare
It will not be menacing!
It will not be frightening!
Well. Jewish Youth—will you rise up nom?
Or will you let the storm drown
Your every hope. your every dream?
Its up to you!

3 Dancers Formed
Ballet for America
"It shimmers with steller rmmes,”
John Martin, New York Times
dance critic, wrote of Ballet for
America, which will be seen for
the first time here at Music Hall
Sept. 23 through Sept. 25.
Organization of Ballet for Amer-
ica was accomplished and its
backing obtained not by an im-
pressario, but by three dancers
Yurek Shabelevski, Yurek Lazow-
ski and 'Tatiana Grantzova.
As dancers, each of the three
was an established star.
How well those three accom-
plished the organization is indi-
cated by Ballet for America's
roster. Nana Gollnor, one of the
most sought-after ballerinas this
year; Kathryn Lee, Bettina Rosay,
Halina Razomova, Virginia Barnes
and Paul Petroff, James Lyons,
Shaun O'Brien, and of course,
Shabelevski. Lazowski and Grant-
zeva.
