Four Program Meetings,
Committees Selected

A new approach to the work of
the Woman's Auxiliary of the
United Hebrew Schools has been
evolved for the coming year.
The newly elected president,
Mrs. Florence Moss Rosman, has
selected her committees.
In accordance with the prece-
dent established in recent years,
the Auxiliary announces four pro-
gram meetings for the club season
as follows:

Chesed Shel Emes
To Honor Memory of
Samuel Sandweiss

On Sunday, Sept. 29, at 2 p. m.,
Chesed Shel Emes will honor the
memory of Samuel Sandweiss, its
principal founder and first presi-
dent, on the occasion of the 20th
Yahrzeit of his death, with- a me-
morial meeting at the cemetery
chapel, 14 Mile Road at Gratiot.
Rabbis Isaac Stollman and Ben
Zion Rabinowitz and Samuel
Brezner, president of Chesed Shel
Emes, will speak. A prominent
Cantor will chant the Hazkarah.
All relatives and friends of the
departed as well as the general
public are invited.
The late Mr. Sandweiss found-
ed the Chesed Shel Emes 30 years
ago amidst difficulties. But he
continued the work with a hand-
ful of people.

Early Deadlines for Holiday Issues

Contributors to the columns of The Jewish News are asked to
cooperate with the editors during the Holyday period, by submitting
their copy as early as possible.
While all issues will be mailed on regular dates of publication,
it will be necessary to advance our deadlines, in order to facilitate
observance of the Holydays by our staff. Officers of The Jewish
News are closed on all Sabbaths and holidays.
For the supplementary Rosh Hashanah edition which will reach
our readers on Friday, Sept. 27, the deadline for all copy and photo.
graphs will be 10 a. m. on MondaY, Sept. 23. -
For our issues of Oct. 11 and Oct. is, which will be issued dur-
ing the Succoth festival,.the deadlines will be at noon on Mondays,
Oct. 7 and Oet. 14, respectively.

Leaves for Hachsharah

With these words, Evelyn Sum-
mers, 18, of 7647 Richton Ave.,
embarked Thursday morning for
the Hechalutz Training Farm in
Cream Ridge, N. T., the collective
farm run by the Hechalutz Pioneer
Organization to train young
Zionists for pioneer work in Pales-
tine.
Commenting on her decision to
leave this country, Evelyn said:
