Morris L. Schaver, prominent
recent statement concerning the barring of fleeing Eastern European
Jews from the U. S. zone in Germany, Gen. Joseph T. McNarney Detroit labor Zionist leader and
announced that he expected 2,000 Polish Jews to arrive within the
national secretary of the Labor
next two months and that they would be admitted.
• "We will give them haven, house them and feed them, as we
have done in the past," he said. He stated that it was American
policy to aid the refugees even though they had entered the U. S.
zone illegally. He pointed out that the majority of Jews fleeing
Poland are now entering American-occupied territory through Vien-
na, rather than Berlin.
, Estimating that 100,000 Jews are still preparing to leave Poland,
he said that he did not believe that the British request to several
nations along the emigration route that they tighten their border
conrols would have much effect. "The great majority of Jews who
have been selected—by whom I don't - know—to board vessels at
.Marseilles or other ports, get there by some means," he added.
Jewish Refugees In Italy Offered Admission to Russia
ROME, (JTA)—A Soviet military representative attached to the
Allied Commission in Italy visited a camp for displaced persons at
Fasoli, near Modena, and offered the Jewish occupants an oppor-
tunity to register for emigration to the Soviet Union, promising them
homes and employment. Several of the 30 Jews in the camp agreed
to register.
Three representatives of the Polish Government are now tour-
ing the camps for displaced persons in Italy for the purpose of in-
ducing Polish Jews to return to Poland. They are being received
very cooly by the Jewish refugees, even though they assure them
that everything will be done by the Warsaw regime to resettle the
returning Jews and provide protection for them.

Germans Not Receiving Re-Education Against Anti-Semitism
WASHINGTON, (JTA)—No organized program of re-education
to combat anti-Semitism is being undertaken, as yet, by German
officals in the American Zone in Germany, Dr. James Pollock,
formerly director of the regional government coordinating office and
a member of the staff of Lt. Gen. Lucius Clay, deputy military
governor of Germany, told- a press conference here 'upon his re-
turn from Germany.
"British authorities have made
abusive use of- the credit that may -
be attached to my name among
the Jews of Palestine," -Mr. Blum
said. "This is a grave act in com-
plete contradiction with the tradi-
tion which became dogma and a
point of honor, namely probity,
impartiality and information,
whatever the form or subject. The
fact that the Palestine radio vio-
lated it so impudently shows by
what spirit and methods the Brit-
ish administration in Palestine is
directed." In conclusion, Mr.
Blum expressed hope that this
incident will lead his comrades
and friends in the Labor Cabinet
to form an opinion of the situa-
aticism as they made before the
war about Spanish Fascism, Leon
Blum, former Prime Minister of
France and leader of the French
Socialist party, declared in an
article in the Socialist organ, Le
Populaire, sharply criticizing the
British Labor Government's pol-
icy in Palestine. •
Protests Term "Terrorism"
Mr. Blum protested against
British use of the term "terrorism"
to describe Jewish resistance in
Palestine. What was called ter-
rorism in Palestine, he said, was
in fact a desperate form of revolt
due to the destruction, by every
British action, of every hope en-
tertained by the Zionists.
Mr. Blum's article, reprinted in
the Manchester- Guardian here,.
was in protest against the use
made by the Palestine radio of
his recent_ article in Le Populaire
on the situation in that country.
'The Palestine radio had quoted
him as having defended the La-
bor Government against attacks
provoked by the recent events,
tion more independent, than-hith-
erto, of the advice of their special
officials.
Commenting on Mr. Blum 's
article, the Manchester Guardian
says that Leon Blum is one of the
best friends Britain possesses and
if he is correctly informed re-
garding the manner in which the
Palestine radio broadcast his
article, then it is very grave.
